Since PawPaw's C4/C5 Catastrophic center cord injury, he has experienced a lot of pain in his body that is successfully managed with his meds. However, weather changes do hurt him and extra meds have to be given. (He is quadriplegic).

Today he woke in pain and continued to experience the pain into the morning. This time instead of extra meds, I put one of the magnetic bracelets on him. First it was put on his left arm and there was no change. However, when it was removed and put on his right arm there was an immediate change and complete relief of the pain. He has actually remained pain free all day and even slept well during his nap.

His pain relief included his neck, shoulder, back and arm. He did not notice any relief of hand numbness. There also seemed to be an immediate sense of wellbeing.

I have had an interest in those bracelets, have done some research and really didn't find much. Buying one, we thought "what the heck, try it and see what happens". We bought the weakest, and now I'm considering a stronger one for him including one for his ankle.

He has outright refused to allow removal of the bracelet today and tonight stated he was going to keep it on all night. No pain meds have been given and no adverse effects have presented. It is not clear to me at this point which nerve bundles could have possibly been so positively affected by that bracelet. Something worked. How and what, I don't know.

Have any of you used those bracelets and noticed any relief or adverse effects of any type? Or nothing at all?

Thanks much,
Golden

My mom wore one and it gave her pain relief. I would like to use one, but I have a pacemaker and the magnets interfere with it. Glad it gave your hubby some relief- whatever works, right?

Rue, the one I got for PawPaw was purchased at Walgreen's Drug Store. The price was around $20 with tax. It's the irenew -- which is actually the weakest magnetic bracelet on the market. There are stronger ones worn by athletes but I worried about adverse reactions, so I began with the Irenew.

It is good to hear others have experienced pain relief with this bracelet! We were so surprised, we really didn't know what to think. Since he's been wearing it, he feels so much better, much more normal again, and he's even telling people it "feels like it's healing" him. He is still pain free. I've gone ahead and given just a little pain med just in case -- very very little actually. His pain is so great it is really hard to manage when it get's full blown and I'm still concerned the bracelet won't hold down his pain. It's kinda scary for me to experiment like this on him. So far, so good!

If that bracelet even cuts some of the pain, even if he has to stay on pain meds, we feel like we've found a miracle. As is right now, he has no pain. None. His sleeping is seemingly normal too. And that's wearing the bracelet to bed and not taking his sleep meds. What has happened with his sleep since the accident is he has been sleeping very lightly. He can actually fall into a normal sleep now. His mood is so much better.

That bracelet can be put on either wrist or either ankle. We had to experiment around to see where it did him the most good. It's definately helping the right side of his body. I did notice today that he had gross knee shaking presenting on the left side of his body and I'm going to buy yet another bracelet and put it on his left ankle to see if that will resolve the shaking. (His injury was to the right side of the spinal cord and the puncture went all the way to center cord, and we refused all surgery).

I certainly don't want to give anyone false hope, but it's clear as a bell something good is working since he put on that bracelet.

Illinois, I'm sorry to hear of your experience. Where and how did you apply it, and did you have surgery for your spinal injury?

It's been a good thing for PawPaw.

Ches, is the bracelet you have one of the double banded ones that athletes use?

By the way, are any of you using two of the bracelets?

The UPS guy who hung out in our breakroom at work sold magnetic jewelry as a sideline, a lot of my co-workers swore by the stuff. He suggested a belt would take away the burning sensation in my legs so i tried one. Guess all the screws, rods and whatever else the drs put in my back didn't like magnets because the pain got much worse minutes after putting it on.

Nice that they bring relief to some.

Oh Jim, you are so funny! First and last halo, eh?? Ha!! I think your halo developed lots and lots of "fight" in you to keep you going, and I'm glad it did!

PawPaw wasn't in a halo and his injury wasn't new when we used the bracelet. I'm thinking the pain caused by the weather changes is what was brought under control by the bracelet, I just don't know. PawPaw's pain in his shoulders, arms and hands is very peculiar. Even gently touching his skin causes him to scream in pain. He's been this way since the accident on a daily basis. That's the pain the magnets seem to have chased away.

I don't think it's a cure all, or even helpful for everyone any more than one medication works as it should for everyone. Individual differences are important considerations.

I do know, however, that the magnets have been used in some knee braces for quite some time now. Don't know which knee problem the magnets help.

My best wishes to you Jim, and keep that fighting spirit going strong my friend! It would not surprise me one bit to hear a news flash that you successfully climbed Mount Everest!

Tim13, what an experience you had with the magnets! Gosh, if anything, your experience stated so well they really do "something". So sorry it was a "something" that hurt so miserably.

Just curious -- do you notice any sudden pain when exposed to other types of magnetic fields such as comet debris (as in walking through a field and suddenly feeling pain), or speed traps and other unseen security designs that are based on magnetic fields?
