I'm not big on New Year's Resolutions. I figure that any time I am willing to give something a go I should just do it.

Still, as 2010 is winding down and I'm going to have to remember to start writing 2011 in only a few days, (something that will take a little time to master), it occurred to me that there are some other things that I would like to in the coming year.

***I'd like to unclutter my life, and possible do something drastically out of my comfort zone, like:

Get rid of unneeded things from around the house...and the basement...and the attic....FINALLY!
Organize my files--I need a new, more efficient system.
Decide and follow through with going back to school.

Some things are big, some small, but all in all, I'm pretty sure my list is achievable and that is the important thing.

Anyone else have any thoughts?

omg, you are reading my mind...lol...i am going back to school (yea me), i start jan. 10, very excited. i too need to unclutter...my files, my house, and the dreaded junk room. i would love to do something outta my comfort zone, just not sure what thats gonna be yet. ive already quit smoking (yea me again), so im not real sure what my resolution is going to be for this year, i always make unrealistic resolutions and all that does is piss me off in the end, so im hoping to change that. i know i want to make deans honor roll, so that will be one of my resolution, another will be to use my standing frame OFTEN. another will be to stop cussing so much, i hate that, i really hope im successful on all my resolutions. good luck to all in 2011. :)

I've decided I've been far too nice to Bev this year so next year I'm going to really give her some stick!! :lmao:

Light the blue touch paper and retire to a safe distance.

Tin hats, anyone?

Bugger the tin hats. Give me full body armour.

Oh, and if that teacher mentions "German" one more time, she's gonna get some too.

Can I please have an armoured troop carrier to go with the body armour.

I'm starting a new full-time job on the third of January, and I have a six-month trial period, so my main resolution is to be so kick-ass that they make me permanent, and I can finally stop worrying about finances, and whether or not I can heat the flat, pay my grocery bills and keep up my health insurance. That's my main focus.

Other than that, I plan to work on my writing, and have to finish the renovation of my flat, particularly the ongoing adaptation of my kitchen and bathroom.

I look forward to being back at the strength and sanity level where I can give something back to the community, but right now, my energy is so low that I have to make it all about me.

That's my resolutions.

Good luck to those of you going back to school and starting new jobs--both are big steps. Me? I just want to have a year that I stay out of the hospital-all year--. Have been thinking about this a lot lately since three years ago I was in pretty bad shape and since recuperating I keep having new things happen that put me back. So this year, I WILL stay out of the hospital.

Going back to school sounds popular, count me in on that one too. (I liked recess and silent reading on the mat) do they have those at university? Hope so.
Hopefully all my legal crap will be over and I can get on with planning the future.

AAHHH!!! But that I do - each time I come on this forum. Hee hee .... Honest now, in many ways. Here, on this forum. Yes.

Really? I do try to cuss more often. I'm usually much too polite and reasonable. I love being more 'cussing'. f*@k all the shit I so often bother about! =)

Ha ha ha, let's see how long THAT lasts! (being nicer too Bev?) But does Bev want 'niceties'? LOL

'German teacher'? WHO are you talking about? Who ARE you talking about? And what exactly does she get? Armour? ARMOUR????? Better 'amor' (Latin = love). (Wait, do I feel upset? ---- hmmm, no, not yet.) =)

Derek, best of luck with all that you're planning.
Don't worry - you do give someting to the community. And do make it about yourself - that's the idea of such a forum, isn't it?

My own resolutions? Ah well .... not so much to share here. Go back to school is one of them (mid-January, to be exact). Just being ME and not caring and bothering so much about all and everything would be a great start.

(Hey, that sounds so the opposite of Derek's, eh? Makes me sound so egoistic. Bah ....)

And what about writing shorter posts? Trying ...

Jen, good luck with that writing shorter posts thing . . . . well, you still have 4 more days to practice. haha

Me, I'm perfect. NOT!

Ok, I'll join the madness.. I've never believed in new years resolutions, but hey, here goes.. ;-)

I will do everything in my power to still be here at the end of 2011!!! I'm going for quite a few surgeries this coming year, so staying out of hospital is not an option, but how about being discharged from hospital alive and well each time???

Now for a less morbid one.. I want to spend more time doing the things that I love, baking, painting, taking photos, and sketching.. At the moment I haven't been participating in my hobbies as I've been confined to bed most of the time..

;-)

For the new year...I'd like to become more physically fit. I'd like to do this by riding my bike and walking and doing pilates...all activities I enjoy doing as all help me to clear my mind. Problem is this...when do I partake in such activities? I'd like to think I will do it early in the morning. However, I do not sleep well...ever, so early in the morning comes a little, well, too early. Rather than going ahead and getting up, I snuggle in just a little more, and my bike never sees the light of day. So...in the coming year...I would really like to muster up the determination to go ahead and GET UP! Then, the rest should fall into place, right?

I resolve to:

Wear matching socks;

Heal that part of my brain that thinks paper plates go in the dishwasher;

and, do something about all these "piles" of "stuff" I've created all over the house since Hubby became disabled.

I'm very much looking forward to this awful year being gone, and me and mine going into a wonderful New Year!

Hmm.... I resolve NOT to wear matching socks... it's hard enough to get them on I may as well make everyone aware that they're on!!
I also intend on cycling from one end of the country to the other... either on my old mountain bike if I can beat these legs into shape or by saving up my pennies and getting a hand cycle to do it (which may mean I wont make it til December owing to lack of funds).
I will however be taking the short version owing to knowing I'd never make it through Dorset with GB around.

I want to start off, as part of my training, to cycle along Hadrians Wall (or as close as one can on a bicycle) so a wee bit of a diversion though I'm hoping to be in Dorset for the steam fair just so you know when to be out! :)

I resolve to continue to ignore GB, as befitting of the utterly self-righteous doddering disser...

On a lighter note: I will better express the views of and support for: the underdogs, the marginal, the downtrodden, the victims, those fallen by the wayside of a society wrought with materialism and prejudice, bigotry and ignorance...

Personal: I will continue to pursue, and allow full reign to: my Dreams...
