I struggle with doing laces up. I don't really want to wear Velcro. Can anyone suggest and lace gadgets? I have no real finger movement or grip.

My PT gave me elastic shoe laces. They look just like regular show laces but they are stretchy because they are elastic. Great invention!!

You know, I've been wearing slip-on shoes before my accident (Puma, Kenneth Cole, Izod). There are many different brands on the market today that are sporty, dressy, whatever have you, that you can slip on without the fuss of shoe laces. Honestly, I don't miss them, and I can put my shoes on without anyone else's help. Face it, things have changed, and I've come to the realization that I had to change with them.
btw, the Puma's I'm wearing have velcro and I set them so loose that I can easily slip them on without using the straps . . . and they're cool looking (in my MOST humble opinion . . . lol). So keep an open mind, keep your eyes open to slip-on shoes, and ALWAYS try them on before you buy to make sure they're easy for you to put on (this last bit of advice may sound like a no brainer, but I'm referring specifically to buying online).

I've worn boots of various styles since the 60s. They zip up the inside seam. I prefer a western style boot. They give good support, are easy to slip on and off, no laces to worry about, and best of all, they are handy to tuck my leg-bag into and keep it it discretely out of sight and keeps it from flopping around.
