I would definitely want some kind of mud guard. Course, I am a girl!:)

Hi rue2you,

Being a girl or not, I think most of us using an everyday chair want to keep our clothing around the hip and thigh area as dry as possible.

Carbon Fibre detachable mudguards gives people the option to be with or without, but not to have that option in my opinion would be a major flaw.

Frank.

Point taken I will look into it. I appreciate any input that you all have.

It will interesting to see how this will stack up against the Icon, believed to be due out around August with a price in the region of $2500, which looks to be about half the price of this chair.

Carpe Diem

The current site is just so everyone can see what is coming and register an interest. Registering now means that those that have registered will be the first to know when the chair is ready for sale.
A detailed site with pics and videos will be going up.

Any possibility of some Utube footage of the chair in action??? I'd really like to see how it handles and how it looks from several angles. It might also answer some of the questions about flex.

As for warranty,, in the US,, the frame itself has to be warranteed for life,, the wheels, tires, and fittings aren't specified.

28 inch wheels, huh,,,, those suckers will be right up in your armpits,,,, well,,, you know,,, higher. Still,, I'd love to try it out. Unfortunately,, I'm one of the fat ones,, so I doubt this design is meant for me.

Good luck with it

Hi Ed

There will be videos and a lot more pics going on the site. You will be able to see the chair in full action. If there are particular actions people want to see in video such as curbs etc please mention it to me.

The 28" wheels really don't rise up much higher than 26" Spinergy wheels. At a glance you probably wouldn't notice. When using the chair the difference is considerable. They also don't inhibit transfers.

Like other companies we will have a 100kg ceiling on the frame warranty. In reality as every chair is bespoke a stronger frame could be made to order but it would be heavier.

Mud guards are a must for me, I hate my clothes covered in mud.

I go with buying an all terrain car if going off road but i can only afford one wheelchair so it has to do everywhere i want to go.

I have just been out skiing for a week in the snow and getting about the resort was a challenge but the challenge was nothing to do with the chair but more the tyres and you can put any tyres on any wheels. I have slick tyres on and skidded a lot on the ice but went through the snow fine, more important to me was my rubber push rims so my hands didnt freeze.

I am still worried about shattering wheels, i bent my first set beyond the point where they could be mended and currently have a set of spinergies but have also bent them. I live in a world where drop curbs are rare and if they do exist generally parked across.
Size of wheel isnt an issue for me. The size i have is constrained by the car i drive, i have 24 inch wheels any bigger and my chair wouldnt fit in my car boot.

The last issue is getting the chair onto the list of approved chairs that you could use a wheelchair voucher against.

I'm not dissing the chair but would want a proper 4 - 6 week road test going about my current every day life so i could see how it stands up to abuse. I managed to bend my Titanium chair which is pretty tough.

I don't have any further info to offer at this time. The development is going well and is in its final phase. As soon as I have the final pre-production model finished I will release loads of pictures and videos for you all to see.
Let me know the kind of stuff you want to see in video and I will do my best to cover it. It will be several weeks until this footage can go public but it will come.

To address a few concerns. The carbon wheels are not like X core wheels. I had X core wheels years ago and have to say I didn't have any problems with them breaking but I know that some did. The wheels on Carbon Black are true carbon fibre with kevalr for impact protection, and a core material inside the wheel for extra strength. The wheels have a integrally moulded carbon pushrim (not bolted on) The pushrim and wheel are one piece. This shape makes the wheel very strong and stiff and the rim is good for grip. These pushrims also wont leave black residue around your home or on your hands or chip you car paint.

I understand how having a test of a demo is beneficial. Carbon Black is made to measure so it wouldn't be possible to give them out for long trial periods. I have used a chair for 26 years and never had more than ten minutes in a demo before making a decision. I don't know any company that would have let me test the chair for several weeks before making a decision.

The Carbon Black site will offer extensive info videos, photos FAQs and the ability to order online. Anyone that registers on the site www.iimaginedesign.com will be contacted with all the info as soon as it is available.

Thanks

I've received an invite to the launch of the carbon black www.IImaginedesign.com So it looks like its going ahead. But the website is just 1 page, there no details, no different photos (just the 1?)No video of the thing working. The facebook page is just as vague. Personally i would like to see more of the chair before taking a journey to London to see it. Surely better advertising would help launch the chair? There is absolutely no mention of the price either. Come on, pull your finger out!!!!!
