Okay, maybe somebody on here can give me some needed advice, since it seems like all of my doctors have different opionions on this problem.

I have a severe urinary tract infection, the fever started on Saturday, almost 6 days ago. Went to the emergency room on Sunday to my parents urging, and they told me it was not a bladder infection, but a case of sinusitis.

They called back on Wednesday and said, oops we were wrong, it is a bladder infection, and you need to start a different antibiotic within the next hour. Started it and they said withing 24 hours the fever should be gone.

ITS NOT AND I'M A LITTLE WORRIED.

But I don't know if I should go back to the ER or not. It did finally break last night, and now it is dancing around 101.5 or 102.5 again, depending on it's mood, I guess.

Anyway, if anyone has any advice as to when it is time to start panicking about my kidneys, please respond ASAP

chrissy  oh, yeah, the back pain had eased off, now it is raring its head again.

I'm probably a little late with this but if the ER you went to cannot tell the difference between a sinus infection and a UTI or bladder infection then I think you need a new ER to go to.

No shit. Doctors my ass, I wonder what mexican "school" these flunkies are from.

Survivor25, If you have a fever you should be in the hospital. Not the ER, a hospital. If you are still sufering from fever have your GP admit you pronto. Period. It’s not your kidneys you need to worry about, it’s a systemic infection and are normally treated with IV antibiotics, not something you swallow.

 I guess someone has to graduate at the bottom of the class in med school, huh? Perhaps we should start demanding to see our doctor's GPAs. :helpme:

HAHAHA

My rehab doc at HealthSouth in Austin, Texas was a guero (white boy) with a MD from la Universidad de Monterrey Mexico - I think he specialized in poor note taking and clichés.

Oh and do what they suggested...

Chrissy,

Just wondering how you are recovering from the UTI?? Granted I'm nearly a month behind in reading this board but a good friend of mine has gone through (and still battling) this same type of situation.

Hope things are cleared/clearing up well for you!
