He's happy be back home, as is the family and the family dog. She naps on the floor right in front of his power w/c. He joked about it being hard to escape without her knowing about it.

The porch lift works well, but the tilt power chair has to be in an upright position for it to fit in the lift.

If all goes well he will see the neurosurgeon next week to discuss the pros and cons of the surgery.

I'd like to give a shoutout to Bev for her quirky humor (this is a good thing!) and support this past week.

Cheers,

Faith

Good luck! Wishing you all the best! ;-)

Good luck! I wish you the very best.

Yes, you can rely on Bev --- (hush, don't tell her I said so).

Yeah, I think the secret's out -- Bev comes off all tough biut she's actually a softie (as long as you're not a spammer or a devotee, or some idiot who is standing in the way of a member who is workng hard at making progress or maintaining what they have).

Hi Sandy!

Yesterday the neurosurgeon informed us that surgery is scheduled for February 28.

He said there is a 25% chance that my brother will come out of the operation worse than when he went in.

Ouch, that's always tough to hear. How does your brother feel about it? I think it sounds better if the doctor says there is a 75% of coming out better. Kind of looking at the glass half full vs. half empty. I'll be sending thoughts of patience for you and your brother. The waiting can make a person crazy.

This is the 3rd or 4th time it has been rescheduled. It would have happened on December 28 exception that a UTI prevented it. Speaking of which, my brother heard that taking a teaspoon of plain horseradish a day will help prevent UTIs. Has anyone tried thiid?

Thanks for keeping us company while we wait for the operation!

Hi Faith,

Happy to hear things are going as well as possible and that at least the surgery date is in the near future...

As far as all these preventatives for UTI's: try a search and/or check out the forums regarding UTI's...there maybe you will find some useful information along these lines:

Take care and I do hope this will be the last rescheduling of your brother's surgery!
