My cousin was injured back in June of 2010. He LOVED chatting online. What kind of adaptive device can I purchase to be able to get him back online. I think it would REALLY help him and make him feel more "in the loop" of things and be able to get online and join a support group with folks that TRULY understand what he's going though.

Thanks!
Suzy

It really depends on how much movement he has, can he move his head? How about arms and hands? Also how is his voice?

There is a voice activation software called "Dragon." I recently saw it advertised on TV for $75.00, and I've heard really good things about it.

This is what your cousin needs. Cheaper than I thought, been awhile since I've bought a new copy. If he has neck movement, later on I would look into head tracking devices but they are a lot more expensive. Start out with Dragon, he will be chatting on FaceBook in no time.

found it looking into some assistive tech for a friend. can probably be set up to work alongside Dragon

Thank you ALL so much for your help. I'm going to follow your suggestions and get him on line ASAP! and get him to also join this forum. As a breast cancer survivor who now also has metastatic B/C my forums are what's been a HUGE part in keeping me going. Talking to folks that TRULY understand what I'm going through. God bless you ALL!!!!
