Im sure this is a Biggie for alot of us.
The Biggest thing i find is how to get your heart rate up and keep it there.

2 problems i have found

1 "Wheeling" just dosn`t do it.......well not around a a flat surface.Which is where #2 comes in you find a incline and it is eathierr too steep or not steep enough. i dont mind going up and down a hill to get cardio i would just like other options. Heck what if its raining out? Yeah yeah i know People have said Thats just burns more calories for you.. They dont understand that water and skin (Butt) does not go well together when putting back and forth pushing motion together. I rarely complian but i tell ya i need help i am over 245PNDS and need workout plan and eating plan i dont mind making these up but i would rather have some sort of guidline to start with

It sounds like you know what to do; you've just got to do it. Diet and exercise.

I've always been on the lookout for a good cardiac/respitory exercise and the only effective one I've found is, yep, wheelin' up hills. I hate wheeling up a gradual incline like most of the roads around my place. My body has to work hard to keep myself balanced which prevents me leaning the power into turning the wheels. But once the incline gets a bit steeper then I'm in business. Time and time again I'm delighted with the energy and power I can find with a reasonably steep hill. The trick is in finding the right hill and I'm lucky cos there's one on the way to visit a close friend.

I tried kayaking but it was more about balance than sweaty, puffy power. I tried lying on the floor and throwing a monster, heavy cushion around which is okay but I tired rather too quickly (but fun). Pulleys in the gym can work but they're boring.

I have to wheel 15 minutes of 'orrible path before I come to 'my hill'. Along with other wheeling, I like to do the hill a couple of times a week. Too bad if it's raining. I miss a day - no big deal.

I have a powered chair and don’t get much exercise. In fact the most exercise I get is when I’m waving my arms about like a fool on the wii playing tennis and such like, but it is exercise so I stick with it, but what I’ve found works for me is the Slimming World eating plan. I’m a big guy, I have a big appetite but with this programme I’ve lost 62lbs in 6 months! And that’s with virtually no exercise! You can eat almost anything on it you just have to know how to tinker the way you cook things to make them a bit healthier. I still go out and eat with friends socially on a very regular basis so it’s not one of those diets that really restricts you in that way.

I enjoy Boxing (hitting a bag)and during the summer I do "wind rolls" about 60' each way as fast as I can as many times as I can. I also find my HR is up when rolling through grass so I do that when I can. I am also saving up for a Nu-Step machine, it rocks cuz it has wings to hold the legs of those that can hold them themselves. It also provides some repetitive range of motion for the legs, as well as having a grip attachment for higher level injuries to hold on to the handles even with little grip strength. I use hand cycles (both a stationary one that sits on a table and an outdoor model) and they are great for getting your heart rate up. The outdoor one is definitely a better workout and more fun due to hills. I think the table model is a saratoga.

It's hard to get good aerobic exercise using just your arms; I find my arms get tired well before I get out of breath. I would like to second the handcycling activity; I personally hate doing static exercise. I got a Davinci (a Liverpool firm) clip-on, and covered a lot of miles.

it goes agAinst every way of losi ng weight
but don't eat breakfast and portion size ur meals as we dont move much we dont need as much food

just gotta control yourself only eAt what your body can use

Not sure about the breakfast thing.

My first job was working with the UK blood transfusion service. Out with the collecting teams it was fairly common for donors to flake out during or after the process. You could almost guarantee that when asked if they had eaten breakfast, the answer would be "No" - - even when the donor session was in the evening and they had eaten meals during the day. Go figure!

I've lost 38 lbs since July 21 2010
I cut out chocolate and soda,
I was injured May 5 2010 had my surgery sep22 2010
I eat a lot less than I did before to the point of my dh bugging me about eating.
Ai can't exercise yet and I'm heading back to neurosurgeon to find out what is really wrong with my legs back shoulders arms and hands and neck
Then going to UCLA spine clinic for 2nd opinion.

I have tried to loose weight before but this is definitely not aerobic or cardio for me right now.

There was an article I read recently that points out that to burn off sufficient calories takes a LOT of exercise. Just look at how much exercise we can get out of 100 calories. It's quite a lot. The upshot is that to lose weight, it is easier to reduce calotie intake. I have got into the habit of having only cereal for breakfast, and a minimal lunch. By keeping busy at lunch time, getting out of the house, you can forget about food for a while. Come tea time, I make sure I have smaller portions than the kids, putting it on a smaller plate - even though you know you're kidding yourself, it still works. I sometimes allow myself supper too.

Having said all this, it is still important to get exercise. Hancycles are expensive, but really good exercise. Failing that, get out and push yourself around a lot, get out so that you're not thinking about food. I find getting up some hills is good exercise; the trouble I have is when you're fighting a camber, pushing one wheel and twisting you're body.

I'm still trying to figure that one out as a 100kg incomplete T4! Someone should write a Kama Sutra for SCI's, small market but I bet it'd sell! That and plugging yourself into the mains!

HI I just went on a weight loss program and am doing very well. I started by eating only green smoothies for 12 days and I dropped quiet a bit of weight but then I introduced raw food 80% and about 20% cooked. I eat pretty good sized portions because its vegan/low fat. I did the 12 day as a body cleanse but also to shrink my stomach and to lose bad eating habits and get food cravings out of my head. I didn't think it would work but I felt so good I just stuck with it. Ive gone down a clothing size in 1 month. I also bought the wii resort and sports. I like resort better and you can get a work out from these games. Its not going to be a constant HR like a 40 min hand bike would give you but it will get you sweating and its really fun. I didn't know I was a kiss ass sword pro. Turns out I am. I also go to the gym and use the hand bike and their weight machines. I live in the city in a small apt so large gym equipment isn't an option for me. Plus, I like to get out.I also do straight up pushing in my chair on bike trails or other scenic places. I found variety is the best fit for me. And I do arm/back/core exercises almost everyday with hand weights and stretch cords for about 20 minutes (doing it while watching tv makes it go very quick ). For me I have to do this because I'm losing weight and I want the skin to continue to keep tight around the muscle. My diet is so healthy that its given me much more energy and I feel good so these activities are much easier. I'm a L1 incomplete injury so I don't have any core issues but I'm also not that hard core. For me what you eat seems to be the difference and the activity just keeps it all tone. And I was sick of yo yo diets and other gimmicks. Honestly, I wish I had just done it the right way in the very beginning. Eating a low fat healthy diet ( for me vegan works) and get some exercise. Also, I'm not weighing myself, I'm just just judging my body by how clothes fit and how I feel naked,. And its working and I don't have to worry about weird weight fluctuations during a diet because I don't know they are happening,. Plus I'm not the type of girl that likes rules. I don't think Id do well if I had to count calories and lose a certain amount in a certain time frame. But if you eat vegan low fat and keep moving you don't think about it,. This is the first time I'm really happy with a weight loss program because its a fit for me. Im really looking forward to my 3rd month into this!!

I would like to lose a few Kilos but I think my problem is comfort food, you know those little snacks you have when you are feeling a sad or down and some forbidden foods can buck you up.

WEll thanks fr all the replies that eating healthy diet site looks intereasting and "Hills" it has been for the past whilenot sure how much weight i`m losing but i have gotten some "Guns" from doing them.
