Can anybody suggest where I may get a cheap 'n cheerful shower/comode chair?

It's for using in a holiday cottage my family own in the highlands of Scotland and it would be used as a free stranding comode chair that I could transfer onto in the bedroom for the morning routine. Also if possible it could be placed under the shower in the bathroom (which has a wet floor) where I could transfer onto it and pull the shower curtain round to protect my wheel chair from getting wet.

Unfortunately the shower/bathroom is too small to get near the toilet with a traditional wheeled chair and the walls are plasterboard so fitting a rail to try and transfer is impractical.

This seems like the easiest solution for the few days every year where I will use it and it does not impact the cottage for any other users.

Suggestions please as to types of chair and where I could source one from.

Or if you want to buy a bigger shower chair that you can leave in situ at the holiday cottage then why not just buy 2nd hand: http://disabledgear....owerChairs.aspx

If neither of the 2 currently there are any good, stick a wanted up - I'll tweet it the posting! (I know, so modern...!)

If you need to get it picked up from a different part of the country, you could try either:

www.anyvan.com - an auction site where you give the brief and carriers bid for your job, or
www.interparcel.com - a competitive and easy to use courier agency service.

Or you could get some ideas here:

Or check out this clever idea (and the mmmm... tasty photos!!!):

That's pretty slick. I can only assume the bag is for easy travel? How big is the bag all said and done?

The bag is a soft bag, and is really an extra if you're travelling by car, got too much airplane luggage, etc..

I really had these made as when I fly, I can only take one suitcase (plus day bag on back of chair) which sits on my lap, and that has to contain everything - shower chair, catheters etc and clothes. So it's a bit of a compromise on height (hence I don't really sell it as a commode because I'm not convinced that it goes over many loos). The 1st photo doesn't show the u-shaped seat as my gf has used it to pack a hat and the hole keeps the shape so has packed round it!

I have an inflatable loo seat cushion for the loo, then transfer onto my chair with a towel on it, over to the shower and transfer onto that. Like everything, that wouldn't necessarily suit everyone, but if you get your head round transferring twice, it's pretty good. It has meant that I have showered in some places where I couldn't have hoped to otherwise: German budget hotel normal room with shower cubicle (had to leave the door open for that one, and it just worked, and round Serbia & Romania).

Or as Silone says, just pop something underneath it for your business!!!

Folded, the maximum measurements (taken at the widest points - but there are big gaps around them!) are

width - 53cm outside, arm to arm
depth - 48cm front to rear
height - 28cm arms are highest part, centre of chair is a little lower
