Im 26 and Ive had a spinal cord injury for about two and a half years. Ive ben saving for a while now. Asia is offering stem cell theropy for thirty-thousand dollars. I have a c6 incomplete injury.I ben doing theropy five days a week since my injury.I try to stay as fit as I can. Ive had minimal results as far as regaining function below my chest. Do yall think it would work? It would be worth it to regain anything. has anybody on here tried the stem cell theropy in Asia? Its ben killing me to save the mony and Im doing as much resersh as I can befor I go through with it.anybody got any suggestions?

I've been a C5-C6 incomplete quad since 1965. My advice? Spend the money on a van or a nice vacation. When and if stem cell therapy ever becomes effective, you'll hear about all over the national news. Right now, they're selling snake oil and false hope. It's tempting and easy to get caught up in the search for some miraculous cure. The thing is, you'll get so engrossed in it that it will consume all your time, attention, energy, and resources. It will also prevent you from living the life you now have and finding your place in the world. Do your physical therapy, learn a marketable skill, and get on with your life. If a cure comes, it comes. If not, you haven't wasted your life chasing shadows.
-- Whatever doesn't kill you, makes you want to get even real bad.

I spoke to a man who recieved adult stem cells in china. He had some interesting results but nothing miraculous. If its not embryonic its not worth it. Also, these treatments are extremely expensive and dangerous.
Right now most "cures" and unfortunately most reasearch is geared toward very newly injured people. I'd recommend keeping an eye on clinicaltrials.gov for US treatments.

I knew a guy who had some chinese stem cells, they worked great but he needed more after a few hours
Seriously, this is your choice but think about it a cure for SCI that works is gonna be Nobel Prize big and not tucked away in some 30.000 dollar backwater.
My advice is to live your life and keep an eye on whats going on in real research with proper trials. SCI doesnt get better but we do get a lot better at it.
One day this will be real but we are nowhere close.

If I had 30,000 I'd buy my self an R-One fly to Canada to pick it up, break it in and still have enough left over to buy my wife whatever she wanted...

Speaking of Indian Quacks, there used to be a 5 star hotel in India that masqueraded as a hospital. The Doctor/receptionist would sign you in and diagnose you at the same time. Then at the end of your holiday you would claim the whole thing on your travel insurance - genius!!

on the other hand there are some fab hospitals too just as mod as u see in the us but they even have doormen with turbans on and the lobby looks like a 5 star hotel with marble designed floors, beautiful fresh flowers, a special room for foreigners on medical holiday .... but most of the patients are Indians who have medical insurance in India. the lab and equipment are state of the art, I saw a very qualified dr and I did not have med insurance the dr visit was 400 rupees or about $7. there are crooks everywhere but i guess when the business is miracles we want to believe.

I'm going to agree with most of the other posters, don't do it.
Save your $30,000 until something clinically proven comes along or spend it on some type of equipment that makes your daily life easier to live.
At least you've waited longer than the typical two year period to see what function you can get back naturally, with healing time and physical therapy. I would be willing to bet that 99% (if not 100%) of the "success" stories are results that would have occurred in time without the stem cell treatment.
Oh, and why do these treatments always seem to cost $30,000? I've read the same number for treatments in China, India, Mexico and others.
