Trouble is, Colin, that I roll on to my back while I'm asleep. No opportunity to tilt my pelvis with a pillow. Thanks anyway.
I mean starting on you back deliberately.

I may be out of touch for a while. I'm waiting for an ambulance to take me in to Poole Hospital as an emergency admission. Wish me luck. :)

Panic over!! My GP thought that the sudden changes I mentioned in an earlier post indicated that I was just a whisker away from full blown Cauda Equina, and arranged an emergency admission. After spending 20 minutes in the MRI scanner, an hour or so being prodded and poked by orthopaedic surgeons, and another nine hours hanging around in the A&E assessment ward, I'm now back home.

The verdict was that they could see few significant changes since the last MRI in 2009, and had no explanation for the rapid changes in sensation. They did reiterate that no orthopaedic solution would be considered unless I suddenly lose B&B or there is a total loss of motor function, in which case they will re-evaluate. Apparently I have a congenitally narrow central canal and bulging/prolapsed discs from L1/L2 through to L5/S1 with significant narrowing of the foramen at the same levels. I'm still concerned that no cause for the new symptoms was found but it seems that I've taken things as far as I can go at present.

Two good things that came out of the day were that my GP was very interested to learn about the Apparelyzed web site, and so was the trainee paramedic who looked after me in the ambulance.

Carpe Diem

Glad to hear it's not serious but shame you didn't get any answers.
Spreading the word about the site can only be a good thing, hopefully they can learn something about us.

I've recently been prescribed this drug for severe upper back/chest pain and was wondering if any of you have had any experience of taking this medicine (good or bad - I need to know what I'm letting myself in for!). I'm particularly worried as I've had very bad allergic reactions to drugs in the past (temporarily paralysed by codeine once, years before my SCI). I tried tramadol initially, which was an effective pain killer, but had to stop it because I was getting a 'pressure' type feeling one side of my head. I'm just hoping I can find a solution to all this, as this new pain has diminished my quality of life even more. Any ideas??

hi 123

I am a big fan of as i call it 'am-i-tripping-lyn' simply because at it really helps makes us feel more relaxed at night when we have it.

Now, this pain you get..i get that too..feels like me chest s being squuezed to death by a giant vice..or as i prefer to think of it..being hugged by arnie the terminater film star...i dont need negative horror movie vice machine images to be violent pain. This nerve drug is very old, trid and tested.

HOWEVER...the nasty side effects will come before pain relief..bear wth it for a week or few, its only a short space in ya life because you will get a lifetime of help if it works.

I had it so i fell asleep taking it, then night terrors, then crying...that was just on 10mg. I now on 60mg at night and i dont go sleep no more..but a very nice relaxed state and instead of think 'ohh ya f*@ker that hurts..think ooo pee off nerve pain, ya doing m head in'. I also take Duloxetine in the morning too as just Amitriptylin dont cut it completly.

They wont bang you on too high a dosage as then it becomes more of an anti-depressant, dont know why sorry i aint medical.

Ok the long term side effects are dry mouth but compare that too agony, i live with that and a drink/fruit/mint in me mouth all me waking day. Its a nuisance rather than a horror though.

I HATE taking meds but i met some on here who cant take meds because their stomachs are knackered....i hate to say this but that pain you got...is the worst...why you a t3 and you get it, i dont know i am sorry you have to have this... makes sense mine does as it is the bra strap area where i had surgery i just lucky i dont have t3 on top of it...

:)
feel free to message me anytime if your taking it, helps when anothers been there got the t-shirt and its a sucess story, at least there is hope then hey

So glad to see you back here GB. Well done for taking action when you felt your condition was deteriorating. We should all take a leaf out of your book and get things checked out. Better to be safe than sorry.

Please take care and go back if things get worse or don't improve.
