Sometimes I have random spasms or one big one triggered by a sudden movement. Other times, mostly when I am lying down or sitting with legs stretched out, I get this really annoying spasm (usually in the foot) which reoccurs every few seconds. Strangely, they reoccur in the exact same intervals. If I start counting after the spasm it will reoccur on the same count (usually between the count of 10-15). i mean the exact same count. Count to tewlve. Spasm. Count to twelve. Spasm. And so on...This can last for 30 minutes or longer.
Anyone else experience this?

Yes and yes...the foot thing is probably clonus and may have to do with the position of your leg...

Are you completely outstretched? This may annoy the nerves more, pulling on the muscles...perhaps, try a more relaxed position, with knees bent, etc....

I experience a variety of spasms, each with their own causes and reliefs...

They ALL have a mind of their own! I want to lift the leg up, it wants to remain firmly planted.. I want them to bend so my feet can sit on the footrests, they want to shoot straight out and hover in the air.. I want to sleep, they want to practice for running the comrades marathon.. I cannot recall even once where the spasms listened to what I wanted.. As for the timed twitches, I also have those, but not as much as I used to.. They used to keep me up for hours at night..

YES!!!!!

Damn things seem to have a mind of their own ...... mine fire @ designated intervals , in the same region and with the same intensity i call them shooters which last for up to three days and nothing arrest their drive. A good form of torture.

Yup, me too. My physical therapist is a drummer also. When I am sitting at the edge of my mat table just after I push my legs over the edge they my feet start tapping like I'm hitting the bass or hi-hat pedal on a drum kit. my pt tells me I have perfect time and fade, as the spasm subsides it fades away from a footslapper to nothing.

My spasms wake me up in the middle of the night or just about throw me out of my chair during the day.

Yes. For some of them I've learned to use the spasms to my own benefit. For instance I rarely have to straighten my legs when I roll over to my back. My legs spasm out straight automatically. If I roll to my side my leg pulls up a bit to a more natural side position. It's odd to me but they seem to adjust to various positions all on their own sometimes.

I can feel the build up before my legs spasm, but not the strong ones which are kind of a warning if like i'm sitting on something or burnt myself etc.(not that i have burnt myself post sci) I've got strong spasticity especially if i need to stretch, like if i take my feet of my footplate and lean back my legs will go straight out infront of me, and when i get in bed and lie back they will straighten and shake like crazy lol.

I don't mind "Spasticity" because they help with transfers etc, but the big random spasms i hate! The kind which feels like my legs being pulled off in a sudden jerk, coz they hurt and can make me fly out of my chair, but they are a good warning if something is wrong.

spasms are annoying thing. But one thing i have come to learn about my spasms, they attack me more when there is something attacking me or developing. The last time they attacked me irritably i had developed staff btn my toes that looked like bruises, doctors think it is an infection in the skin, i don't know. all i know is that they really triggered the spasms. i am still treating these things

I think they are also good for muscle tone. If you can manage day today without spasm meds, I would not take them...
