I do. In fact, I used to stay on my dad's boat all summer from when I was about 10 to when I was 13 and go fishing every weekend. Sometimes we'd go fishing during the week, too. Back when I was in Boy Scouts, I won a fishing tournament and the prize was a bicycle, lol. :-p

Do you suppose there is a significant market for a fresh water fishing "rod and reel" that can propel an artificial lure to achieve a casting-like function, and then permit retrieving the lure in a fashion that a person with quadriplegia could operate (e.g., electrically or with a special reeling action)?

I love fishing! Mostly prefer saltwater. Don't care much for bass fishing... (don't flame me! LOL)
Here's a pic from last May near Kenai, Alaska...

It was probably the most fun fishing trip I've ever had. The other guys in the pic just had the best attitudes and sense of humor! Oh.... and guess who caught the most fish, including two skates?!?!
The larger of the fish pictured (we released quite a few, too) are 25 lbs.
Hope to catch one (maybe two?) a little larger in April. Going again, but out of Homer this time, "the Halibut Fishing Capital of the World:"
About Homer
Same bunch of guys. Should be a hoot, but probably much colder!
Sage, You need to create the market with enthusiasm. The old addage about "build a better mousetrap and the world will beat a path to your door" simply ain't true. They're more likely to steal your idea, unfortunately. BTDT!!!! But not if your marketing is aggressive enough. "Just market it, don't worry about a patent. They're for big corporations." Advice of my late Uncle Paul, patent attorney extraordinaire.
You've seen infomercials about new fishing products. They create the market for their product. Sometimes they sell a ton, sometimes they don't! You have to give it a try and be willing to walk away if you lose too much.
Just my 2 cents' worth! Good luck!

For those who love fishing Armchair Anglers has put together a Fishing Survey. Your feedback will be invaluable in establishing an accessible sports fishing product in Florida. Any data collected helps all of us involved in accessible tourism advocacy to leverage the tourism industry for more inclusive products and information. If you can please take the time to fill this out and help Jim.
