The operation is to begin at 10:00 a.m. (California time), but he has to be at the hospital at 7:45.

If all goes well I'll see him in the ICU after work tonight.

It is going to be difficult to concentrate on work today. I already left my office shoes at home! If I had gone back for them I'd be an hour late for work (I'm typing this on the bus).

Hoping the surgeons do an excellent job!

Cheers,

Faith

Surgery was set for 10:00. Then it was changed to 10:20. He wasn't rolled into surgery until 11:35. Issues with his trach. Hearing this doesn't boost my confidence. :(

Glad you are here and that you understand.

Probably a precaution...you know they are being extra careful with him NOW...which should also help put you at ease, well, somewhat as possible...

There are a lot of folks in here and out there hoping and praying for you depending on what is their thing.

What I mean is you are not alone, don't worry if it takes time or runs on longer than expected he's in the right place and they will take good care of him. You'll see him soon if you have not already and in the morning I'm sure you will feel a lot more relieved,

Keep the faith or whatever is your thing. :emoticon-0165-muscle:

Hi Bev and Colin!

They didn't get him positioned until 1:20 then they started the surgery.

The great news is that he is out of sugery and the neurosurgeon told his daughter that it went well!

By the time I get to the hospital he should be in the ICU.

Cheers,

Faith

Post Scrip Hey Colin, I've visited your fair city -- it is beautiful! I had venison sausage for lunch. We went to a whiskey shop and I had a taste of Heather Cream.
Wonderfully smooth! The castle was amazing, but my favourite castle was the one in Sterling (where I had a freshly baked scone with clotted cream).

My brother was awake and communicating as his daughter did lipreading (they removed the speaking valve from his trach). I was delighted to see that he could move everything he could before the operation. He even raised his left arm higher than ever before.

They removed the trach today! Hurray!

And yes, he is still his usual upbeat self!

Thank you for your prayers and positive energy -- it was and is very much appreciated!

Cheers,

Faith

My brother is Superman! They just moved him from the ICU to the Observation Room. Next move should be to the hospital's acute rehab ward.

I need to call that SCI rehab facility in San Jose or Santa Clara, CA?

Bev, he did homemade chocolate cookie exercises on Sunday! *smile*

It is hard to see him bedridden again, but this is temporary.
