Three Key London Hotels Install Hoists

The InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), as part of their commitment to offering a welcome for all, have installed ceiling track hoist facilities in accessible guest rooms at three of their prominent London properties; Holiday Inn London – Kensington Forum, Holiday Inn London – Bloomsbury, and Crowne Plaza London – Heathrow.

John Bamsey, IHG Chief Operating Officer UK and Ireland, said: “We are delighted about the exciting opportunity this presents for us. Not only will it enable us to maintain our market leading position as our hotels become more appealing to guests who require hoist facilities, but it will also reinforce our relationships with key disability organisations in the UK."

In December, IHG won the “Enhanced Accessibility Award: Providing Excellent Customer Service for Disabled People” at the RADAR People of the Year 2005 Human Rights Awards.

Tourism For All (TFA) can offer members special rates at participating IHG hotels worldwide, as well as a long-standing offer at the Copthorne Tara Thistle which also has accessible rooms fitted with hoists. For anyone organising a conference or event, and needing to be sure that you can accommodate all your guests – as, under the DDA, you should be – these hotels are now among the best choices.

To take advantage of TFA’s special rates, call 08451 249973.

Do any of these properties have affiliates in North America with ceiling track lifts installed in their accessible rooms? I have been wanting to travel by van but don't want to drag a portable lift with me. I know of a very accessible apartment in St Catharines, On, Ca. with ceiling lifts but that's it. It rents by day or week. I live in Nova Scotia, Ca. and the 20 hrs drive to St Catharines is too much. Any hotels with ceiling lifts would be great to know about.
