Hi Ladies,
Before my confinment to a wheelchair I used to have all these darn cute purses. As my numbness progressed and I was walking with a limp I switched to one of my crossbody purses and think that they might be what I have to use from now on. Looking at all the cute Vera Bradley ones.

What does everyone use as a purse?

Thanks,
Chris

I love purses - have a whole collection! lol My most recent purchase is a Fossil Key-Per laptop bag with vintage birds as the design, since 99% of my purse carrying is done on my lap anyway - I extend the strap out enough that I can put it around my waist so it doesn't go flying off my lap. This is where I stow my keys, phone, iPad and anything else I need to keep handy in front of me. The rest of my necessities go under my chair or in my backpack on the back.

I too found it difficult carrying a purse. Initially I found a backpack type sling that hung perfectly on the back of my chair, but I did want something a bit more feminine. Prior to being wheelchair bound I did carry a variety of fashion bags w/ matching shoes, etc. as I was a working gal in the big city. All that has changed, but I have not. Some of my bags with shorter handles can fit on the back handles of the chair without rubbing against the wheels, but for safety issues I am able to fit other bags on the seat cushion next to me while shopping, or even strapped over my shoulder and held under my arm. If the strap is long enough, I will try "1 positive thinker"'s idea of draping it around my waist so it is on my lap. Thanks for sharing.

I was carrying my usual purses right up to when I attributed a fall to an overstuffed handbag. Now, I carry a Bagallini Urban backpack, very feminine and can be converted to a sling bag.

You ladies have some great ideas. At one point I was using aregular backpack since I need room for disposable and catheer and other much needed supplies, so that was the best I could fin until I found a purse with straps that zipped down like a backpack a while ago. When I was able to go out, I was careful about keeping it behind due to robbery and being an easy target.

hi fellow gimps! i'm a c 6/7 quad and have been injured since 1986. i was in a roll over hydroplane accident and it took hours for the paramedics to get me out of the car in the pouring rain. that definately wasn't my day. but alas life goes on!

My wife has a really Kool bright red one I sometimes carry ( usually because her hands are full , I'm not sure she'd stick around if I started crossdressing )

good question. i still use my normal purses cause i can sit them in my lap and hide the belly. i have put the strap around my neck to keep it from falling off. wish i didn't have this belly! purse makes a good cover up especially if it's cute. that seems to be a distraction at least in my mind.
