Hi everyone.
My husband (C5/6 quad) is getting a new wheelchair. He's very excited to try the new e.motion wheels. Wondering if anyone has them and what do you think of them? He currently uses the iGlide, but they're apparently stopping production on it and its parts. Any feedback there?
Also - in the chair he has right now, he just can't seem to ever look like he's sitting up "straight." He always looks slouchy. We've tried adjusting the angle of the backrest to a 90 degree angle, even supporting it with a belt, and still, he looks slouchy. I know he would like to look like he has better posture. Wondering if that's possible? Or maybe just not possible because of the level of his injury, lack of abdominal muscles, etc.
Any tips on that would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, I have similar issues with slouchy posture, and am helped by small sponge bit going in at small of back as a lumbar support. Took a while to get the right size and shape, but I can then sit more upright and look straight ahead rather than peering out from my slouch.

I have an electric wheelchair (UK NHS) with a function for reclining seat and a separate function for reclining the back. I guess two things on the posture. The right clothes and the right weight! But anyway look for the electric accessories and you can look up right when you want and recline and rest any other time.

Wonderful things. You do sometimes have to watch on inclines, as the chair tends to tip backwards much more easily, especially if you are putting some effort in yourself. Oddly the secret is to not try so hard yourself. The biggest drawback is the extra width they add. I've had the older model which I think is wider than the newest wheels.
As far as posture is concerned, I agree with the comments about the loss of the lumbar curve. Try rolling up a towel and putting it behind him - roughly at the level of the top of the waistband of the trousers. I find that when I get it right, I sit back in the chair, with a definite bump - and am much more upright. Plainly if this works, it would be sensible to try to find a lumbar support that does the same thing - but the rolled up towel is cheaper as a trial! You may have to experiment with thickness and placement though
