Had some fun yesterday afternoon...

While enjoying the SoCal sunshine and reading an organic gardening book; in my backyard, with all computers tuned off...even the network!

I got a call from a very excited east indian sounding gent. He identified himself (hehehe...as a virus support technician from microsoft) and informed me that my computer had been infected by a rather nasty trojan horse virus, that it would steal all my data then destroy my hard disk if I didn't immediately download his remote software product so he could upload all of my data, clean it, then download my uninfected data...we'll need your credit card also Sir :)

I replied...OMG...how could this happen, my Apple II+ has never had a virus, I'm so glad you called to help! One question though, how do you know my computer is infected?

He replied, well I see you are running windows 98 and are looking at many websites using your browser and the trojan horse is recording every click of your mouse and text you type...you must let us help you remove this terrible virus!

I replied, Windows 98...that's so cool, it's running on my apple that only has 64K of memory, damn, you microsoft guys are smart...but, I only have floppy disks to store data on...a hard disk, what is that?

He just repeated the previous BS scam line...after about five minutes of me playin with him, he hung up...do be careful out there :D

Aw gee, Jerry...he needs to eat...why didn't you at least offer to buy the abbreviated help version? Come on now, be good to our fellow Earthlings...help a scammer today...! This is my new goal: to donate some of my funds, however short, to help one of these fine scam artists each day...they are human, too...

:D Good one Stillfingers
I get these clowns ringing all the time, it's good to have some fun with them.

I had a similar bunch of calls until I finally told them I knew what they were up to and abused them soundly. they haven't rung again.

now I just seem to get a lot wanting to upgrade my phone service provider blah blah, I just say ' Oh sorry, but I don't have a phone', the ensuing confused silence is the perfect opportunity to hang up.

I'm so envious. I'm dying to get one of those calls.
