Received this letter today.

I decided to post it for general reference.

Dear Mr XXXXXXX,

Change of Service Provider at Leicester DSC

We are writing to inform you of some changes to the services provided through the Leicester Disablement Services Centre. These changes will not affect how or where you access these services as a patient.

The Disablement Services Centre (DSC) at Leicester General Hospital provides wheelchairs, prosthetic limbs, orthotic services and environmental controls. lt also has an additional orthotic base at Leicester Royal Infirmary as well as providing services at a variety of sites in the community.

This service is commissioned by NHS Leicestershire County and Rutland and NHS Leicester City and has been managed through a contract with the University Hospitals of Leicester.

However, University Hospitals of Leicester will no longer manage these services and, after a tendering process, the contract will be taken over by Chas A Blatchford and Sons Limited.

Blatchford's, who already provide prosthetic services to the DSC, are due to take over during April 2011 and will hold the contract for five years. Blatchtord’s are the largest prosthetic and orthotic company in the UK, specialising in providing clinical services of this type (prosthetic services, orthotic services and special seating services).

The changes will not affect the way you are treated. You will be able to continue to use the service in the same way as you do now and use the same contact details.

The current staff employed within the service will transfer to Blatchford and the services will still be provided in the same locations, at the same times and by the same teams.

Should you have any concerns about the change in the service please call Julie Croysdale, the Service Manager for the DSC on 0116 258 4695 or email her on Julie.croysdale@uhl-tr.nhs.uk

Yours sincerely,

Catherine Griffiths
Chief Executive
