Ok so when I got injured in aug 09 I had my own Insurence and they bought me my wheelchair so now my work is goin to stop paying for my Insurence and now I'm about to go on my dads Insurence so if I want can I have them buy me a wheelchair on his policy?

You must check with your Dad's insurance provider. You make have to justify the need for a new chair, or you may not. Be prepared.

Do you actually need a new wheelchair? Or are you one of those people who are screwing up insurance policies even worse for the people that actually need them? If you need it, I'm sorry. If you don't, stop being so greedy.

I have a good chair that I got with a Insurence polic that I payed for but yes I do need another chair and how is me getting a chair a second chair on a policy my dad pays for being greedy?

usually insurance only buys a new chair every 5 years. that's been my experience. you will also need a prescription from your doctor in order to start the process.
aren't you eligable for medicare?

I guess you didn't read what I wrote. Regardless, if you have a good wheelchair like you say you do, why would you need a second one? Also, you didn't really pay for the wheelchair, you pay for the Insurence, or actually your dad does.

I have an Insurence policy that paid for my first chair I understand they only give them every 5 years but I'm saying I'm going on my dads policy now so would I be eligible got s new chair on his Insurence ?

actually need a second chair for my house it multiple levels and my room is down stairs and I can't afford an actual stair lift so if I'm home alone I'm stuck down there. And Ya i pay for my Insurence that bought me the chair not like I'm getting free medical Insurence isn't cheap!! So now that my policy is ending I'm about to switch to my dads and want to know if his Insurence will also buy me one seeing that it's a different Insurence . I'm really not looking people's input on if I'm being greedy or not I just want to know if they will allow me to get a chair

you probably could get a w-c. you should call them and check it out. just tell them you need a chair and see what they say.

honestly i have come to the conclusion that buying a second chair is going to be the better idea. I was also injured in august. my chair came 8 months later, and 1600 dollars out of my pocket. the insurance company is going to be smarter then you think. in the event that your insurance does cover a second wheelchair it is going to take a lot of time. In short if you do go the route to go through your insurance you do not know there process in getting that chair will be the same as your previous provider. they also may decline the claim. If you decide to go through a supplier that was local and sat down and properly measured you they get the opportunity to mark up the price. Originally my chairs cost was a total of 4600 dollars. I asked for a break down of all the parts. i eliminated 1000 dollars in crap i did not need. my suggestion is to look and price out your own wheelchair. it will be quicker, cheaper, and less frustrating then trying to go through an insurance company. if you have time try it. i on the other hand didn't but i got my second wheelchair with in a week. in short research as much as you can. there are a few websites i checked out. spinlife.com, sportaid.com, and 1800wheelchair.com. just a few but you can price out everything you will need. just ask who ever took the measurements for you first chair and start looking. good luck.
