I am a mechanical engineering student at the University of Canterbury.
As a final year design project we have been briefed to design some sort of manual device/mechanism to allow mobility for someone with Tetraplegia. We are looking at a specific group of Tetraplegics that suffer from C5-C6 complete Tetraplegia and have had deltoid-to-triceps surgery.
As I am not an expert on Tetraplegia, is it possible that you could please suggest some things to consider in my design, that I may not think about? For example, I have only just been made aware of the importance of making sure none of the mechanism comes in contact with the lower half of the body, due to there being no sensation down there....
Thank you in advance for any help.
