My daughter is a C5 quad and is in very good health (thankfully) - she has just flown back from UK after spending 9 months there! She has developed two small external piles - not bleeding and of course cannot say if they are painful or burning.. does anyone have similar story or solution? Hoping to chat and thank you..

HI Helen
My husband developed what I thought was external piles a couple of years ago. It seems they were internal ones that due to over rough treatment during his bowel routine had popped out. We had just started to use a care agency after I did it for many years.
Anyway, as they were inflamed but not infected the GP prescribed a suppository which I inserted at night, not high enough to cause the bowel to want to work. Then after the routine to gently push them back. The treatment actually shrank the piles a fair bit. By the way his routine is every morning. We had to do it for about 3 days I think. Oh and they were to be kept in the fridge. I'm sorry I don't have the name of them but a quick google should tell you.
Hope that's of some help.

might be a bit late. Had similar problem, my GP suggested an antiseptic herbal ointment called zam-buk (doubt whether it will be available elsewhere, but there should be something similar?). It is made up of: oil of eucalyptus, camphor, oil of thyme and oil of sassafras. It worked for me.

Hi i to suffer with piles big time!! I use a two prong attack that works for me. I use anusol hc spray to shrink them on the outside (you can get this spray with out prescription) and for the internal ones i use proctosedyl suppositories which shrink them inside. I can after about 3 days pop them back in and the problem is solved until the next time my bowel stops working!! Tatiana the spray you can get on prescription and the supps are prescription only. I find this works wonders and have quite safely been using this method for about 6 years. I a qualified pharmacy tech so looked into it first then told my doctor what i wanted and he was ok with it. hope this helps esslouis

Esslouis, thanks for the info , thats great.
Im going to get some of that spray..itl be fun trying to spray it onto the right area though...
You may know the answer to this also..... though it might sound daft, lol but if i use a supp, will i have to check if its allowed with my warfrin tabs? As its inside the body? I dont think i will the spray.
Though i dont think that the supps will affect my INR greatly.
When i was in hospital i complained to a nurse that i couldnt go to loo and he popped in not one but two glycerine supps.....i think the inside of my bottom exploded with the contents of my bowel (for a week, the nurses loved me because i couldnt hold it..
)..sorry to much info!
Anyways i was left with this darling little blighter that wasnt for budging. The pharmasist told me to use sudocream but enough is enough....time for action!
