Hi all,

My name is Alex Foreman and I am making a documentary for the BBC on parenting around the world. We are currently searching for families in the United States where a parent is living with a disability of some form and have at least one teenager aged 13-20. We are looking for inspiring, active and positive families who are a strong family unit and believe in discipline and structure and are proud of the way they have brought up their children.

If this sounds like you and you would like to get in touch please contact me at alexforeman@twentytwenty.tv and I will get straight back to you.
I'll look forward to talking to you and sharing more information about our project.
Best Wishes
Alex

this lady sent me a pm and it turns out it's for the program "world's strictist parents". they sent me a link so i could watch the show. if any of you want to have a look here's the link.

i have until tomorrow until they need to know if i am going to do this. my daughter's have seen this show on mtv. i'm not sure i'm up for 2 troubled teenagers staying with us. i will admit the kids in this clip weren't so bad.

what are you thoughts? would you do this?

hi fellow gimps! i'm a c 6/7 quad and have been injured since 1986. i was in a roll over hydroplane accident and it took hours for the paramedics to get me out of the car in the pouring rain. that definately wasn't my day. but alas life goes on!

Mellow, they contacted me through their website. If they were looking for a documentary about parenting from a chair, I would be in. But I am not interested in 2 more kids coming to live with me. I'm sure it is fine, but it is not for me. My life is hectic enough!:)

hi rue and jane,

i guess documentary in england is the same as reality tv in america. this is a program where they have two troubled kids come and stay in your home for a week. we decided against doing this.

hi mellowgator

i think you made the right decision. it probaly would have been bad influence on your kids- like kids need any more problems today. i would have enjoyed seeing how you get along each day w/o the problem kids.

These kind of shows make everyone involved look like jerks.

mellow and rue, I do applaud your decisions not to participate. Of course, everybody has to decide for themselves, but I also think that this is the difference: A documentary on your own family life would be a great idea. Adding two troubled teenagers to see how you cope seems sensation-seeking to me.

I know you two have wonderful families - kids. I really congratulate you both on your achievements as mothers!

I'm glad neither one of you decided to do it. I've seen part of one of the programs and like all reality TV it was lame. Seriously, how do you act natural with a camera in your face ... I guess the money is nice. I'm not for exploiting the kids for profit at any age. I know mellow's daughter will turn out to be a star in what ever she pursues; she's such a natural beauty. And both rue and mellow are to be commended as parents. True role models ... that's what our kids need.

they were only offering $200 bucks for expenses. so there was no monetary insentive for me. the lady from the program discribed it as being ambassadors for the disabled. what a bunch of baloney. it's just reality tv.

Yes, I didn't think about the money either. But I did not want my family exploited!! We are "unique" enough without the world making fun!!:) We will just keep our story swapping and parenting motivation here where it is mostly safe!:)
