ok my boyfriend has a pressure sore on his bottom it has been there for a little over a month it was 6cm long and 8 cm wide and not deep at all and now it has decreased in size to 3cm long and 4 wide since he has come but it is 1.5 deep and the nurse suggested that I use a wet-to-dry dressing and i'm not too sure about that . I have looked it up and what I have found was all info saying not to use it. If anyone could give me some advice I would greatly appreciate it. Elaine

Hello Elaine,
There is a product named Microcyn that is excellent for treatment of pressure ulcers. You can use it several times a day and it cannot be overused. Bacteria and germs cannot become immune to it because it is not antibacterial. It will kill germs/bacteria such as MRSA and virus' such as HIV. It will quickly stop pain from wasp stings, sun burn, poison ivy and etc. The new product recently approved by the FDA for treatment of pressure ulcers is XuSorb Foam Waterproof Wound Dressing. You can read about the treatment and products here: www.oculusis.com (I have used Microcyn to successfully heal two Stage II pressure ulcers recently.)
Good luck.

Hi,
3m makes a Tergaderm dressing called Absorbent Clear Acrylic Dressing which consist of 3 layers it will not stick to wound, is waterproof , allows odors to escape while keeping bacteria out of wound area , protects / cushions wound, can be left on for up to 7 days ,the wound can be inspected without dressing removal therefore is less stressful to wound and surrounding skin. Allows you to shower daily which is a real plus. Sold as a five or ten pack and comes in different shapes and sizes. Go to woundcareshop.com
