I have a new set of symptoms after nearly four years post-injury...I'm waking up nightly with a sensation of being placed in a torture rack (feet bound in one rack while arms bound in another while being stretched or pulled apart)...My muscles feel like they are being stretched to the limit, one muscle group pulling against the other..wow...what a odd trip...this is not muscle spasms nor nerve pain etc that I'm used to either...can anyone fill me in on this nasty development?

Wish I could give you a solution.
I'm sure you're not alone in this.....I hope it gives you some comfort even if it doesn't relieve the pain.

So sorry for you, my friend...though it does sound like a variety of neuropathic pain...do you take Lyrica? I feel that rack and pinion on occasion, and it is a tough one with hwich to deal...not quite a spasm, but more, as you say, torture, a slow ripping...if I think of something besides commiseration, will let you know...

yes, yes, yes. try pot, neurontin of(lyrica if you can stand the side effects) oxycoton and mobic then take it with a martini. perhaps you'll gain some relief this works for me and doesn't totally take the pain away but makes it tolerable.

hi fellow gimps! i'm a c 6/7 quad and have been injured since 1986. i was in a roll over hydroplane accident and it took hours for the paramedics to get me out of the car in the pouring rain. that definately wasn't my day. but alas life goes on!

Am currently taking ativan, bacoflen and ibuprofen....couldn't hack the Lyrica and rarely use opiates cause they can and often-times do trigger migraine headaches with me but the pot part sounds good....Going to doctor next week and will lay this bizzare development on her...Thanks for the advice and listening to me complain tho...

My own symptoms are a variety of what you describe, and the more I use my core muscles, the more they pull me in an involuntary, weird twisty torque making balance difficult. usually I am only tortured when I am up during the day.
I am beginning to think these symptoms only get Worse. Except yours, snakeye. You will get better.

Went to doctor and she discovered a kidney infection. Felt much better after a round of antibiotics but the infection came back, so took a second round of antibiotics...Now way less back pain, spasms and spasticity. Imaging tests showed multiple small kidney stones as well...Feeling better tho...

See the strange flipside of that is I have stones on both sides and feel nothing. For the first 16 months or so after my accident I was passing small rocks, never felt a thing, apparently I was a lucky boy to quote my Spinal Consultant.
Only evidence was some increase in spasm activity and it was only occasionally.
Sorry to those who "feel the pain" in whatever manifestation it shows itself.
