I am planning to relocate back to another state, sometime next year. Once I establish residency does this mean that my social security payments are adjusted? To fit cost of living? Right now I bring in $1868 but if I moved to CA where the cost of living is higher, would my SS payments increase or stay the same?

Nope, they stay the same no matter where you live.....

Maybe, if you move to another country they would stop?

we use to get 3% every year since it was incepted until obama took it away, COLA 'cost of living raise', but he deemed the price of living had decreased instead of increasing, so he took it away for the disabled and old, but the congress got there COLA, go figure............we lost our piddly 35 buck raise, they got 5 grand, must be rough living off 175 grand and all expenses paid........plus only work about 3 months a year.......and get nothing solved.......that 1868 should be about topped out also, it was around 1400 in the early 90's.....

The only safe bet would be to contact your Social Security Office. They can give you a definitive answer! I live in Pennsylvania and can tell you that my local office is very dependable. I'm sure that varies from state to state and even county to county. Best of luck!
If you don't try, you fail.

Hi Sciiaf,
Social Security as Jim and others have said will not change, no matter where you live in the United States, as I understand it. So until a cost of living is granted again, you will continue to receive your $1868 per month. All you'll need to do is change your address and where you want it, deposited. Good luck in California, if that's where you're moving to.
It is good to have an end to journey towards,
but it is the journey that matters in the end.
