My boyfriend and I are planning on trying to conceive in one year.

(I know there are several other threads about it, but I would like one spot and one spot only to come to.)

I live in BC and I can't even think of where to begin with all my questions.

Firstly, my boyfriend is 28 and I am 21. I know I am young, but I have wanted nothing more then to be a young mother. I also know that conceiving can take a long time, hence why we are beginning to try when I am 22. But age shouldn`t matter. My boyfriend is a T6 Paraplegic. He has not ejaculated since his injury. He does get erections, and though they don`t last long, viagra helps. Also not extremely important. We are purchasing the hitachi magic wand this month, and hoping for some results.

I guess my main question is for those who have tried conceiving, with failure or success. HOW??

If you tried the hitachi magic and it did not work, what was your next step?
Did you try the ferticare vibrator (and how much did it cost)?
Did you try electroejaculation?
Or did you surgically (with a needle I believe it is?) remove it from the testes?
Once you recieved sperm (if you did), how did you inseminate? Via IUI? IVF? ICSI?

And how on earth could you afford the latter?
I've heard that it can cost upwards of $10,000 for a single attempt. And what if that attempt failed?

Basically I would like to know how you conceived, and how much it cost? How long did it take? How many failed attempts were made.
My mother-in-law has said that she thinks she read somewhere (on their medical coverage) that any infertility issues my boyfriend has is covered by his medical, and therefore as long as I have no fertility issues myself, we will not have to put our own money into getting pregnant. Is this true? Or is she mistaken?

I understand that it will be the greatest emotional rollercoaster, but I need to believe that it will be possible, as its all I've ever wanted, to be a mom.

I want to hear success stories, or stories of people who are currently trying, and what level they're at now.

At T6 there is every reason to expect that your boyfriend will be able to ejaculate when you find the right stimulus...and you keep trying different things until you do. We used a similar massager to the Hitachi. That hurdle achieved the next thing was to discover from the fertility cllinic that there was a motility problem but it was easily fixed by rushing the goods in to the clinic each month for a quick centrifuge and replacment swimming/nutrient solution. Once that regime was in place we took just over a year, anxiously rushing to the clinic every month, before we succeeded...and it was all worth it.

I am T-6 complete and fathered 5 children this way. You may not need medical intervention. You should exhaust every effort to determine if he can ejaculate first. We use papavirin injections to give me an erection that is durable enough to sustain sexual intercourse long enough to cause ejaculation. My belief is that many SCI above T-6 probably can ejaculate but do not know it because they have not tried what it takes to do it. For example, Viagra does not provide a reliable erection (long enough to trigger ejaculation).
Let me put it this way, He needs to have an erection long enough for you to ride him vigorously until he ejaculates. Even then it may not work every time ( I am usually about 50%). Look at my some of my old posts and see the discussions there.
Good Luck!

We have officially ordered the Hitachi Magic Wand, though with the postal strike, who knows when it'll arrive. My boyfriend also has an appointment with his urologist this Wednesday, and I am going with him to ask about fertility. What are some questions I should ask. I'm not sure if his urologist will know the answers to anything. His old urologist (who passed away) just gave him viagra when he mentioned trying. He told him that lots of men with SCI THINK they are unable to ejaculate, when in reality they just are not hard enough for long enough to achieve ejaculation. But I am not sure how true this is.

I need any advice I can get, because we haven't told anyone we are trying, I have no one to ask. The internet gives me hope, and false hope altogether.

I took a test a couple days ago and my mind must have tricked me into thinking I saw the faintest line ever. But sure enough, there was nothing there.
I took a test this morning, and nothing appeared after the 2 minutes. I proceeded getting ready, and tossed it in the garbage thinking "this is a waste, its not going to work". I checked it a few minutes later again, and there was half of a plus sign. I'll try to attach pictures. But then I took another test this afternoon and it was negative. I'm thinking I got a false positive.

The first picture will be of the first test I took, where I thought maybe if I look very closely (false hope haha) that I saw a faint faint line.

The second one is a picture of the test from this morning. The result showed up before 10mins after taking it. The picture was taken about 10 minutes after that. The second picture was taken just now.

Like I said, I think it could be an evaporation line or just flat out false.

You need to stop buying blue dye tests. They are known for false positives. Also, you have to read it within the recommended time frame...if not it can be an evaporation line.

id try another test, evaporated lines are common after 5-10 minutes... and its better to take the test in the morning when your urine has had a chance to be concentrated all night.
