Hi,
My mom has a sore on her coccyx and I was using lots of barrier cream and telfa and after months of that it healed we then went back to the emergency room and the same sore came back after a weeks stay at the hospital. Once again two months later it was gone and she had a beautiful bottom. I went away for a 8day vacation and came back to find a really bloody sore and I did my usual cream, telfa and turning every two hours since but it hasn't healed and it's getting worse by the day. I've called her rehab doctor and primary doctor to get a air matresse but they are still doing the paper work on it. The appoint is on JUne 8th and that's the soonest they can see her and as we wait I have been researching what we can use. I've read that you can use honey on the sore and then cover it with gauze and then some non adheivese dressing and constant turning but what kind of honey should I use? Normal organic honey, manuka honey or that medihoney? And or anything else you think might help I'll try. And has anyone used those coccyx cushions they sell online?
Any Ideas On Honey?

Hello TheChick,
I never tried honey on a wound but I have used Microcyn which heals very quickly. You can read about it here: www.oculusis.com
BTW: I am not affiliated with Oculus, Inc. in any way other than I have been using their product for almost a year and can recommend it to anyone with wound healing problems.

Actually, it doesn't really matter what "kind" of honey you use, (More than once they grabbed those little individual packs for me from the kitchen) but honey doesn't grow germs. They found honey that was thousands of years old in tombs in egypt that was still edible. After fighting with a sore on my rear end for over a year they tried honey and within 3 months, it was healed.
