I'm a T7 para in search of a good wheelchair aerobics DVD. I'm using google right now & its just a bunch of junk. There isn't really any way to tell what is worth the money. So if any of you have any good suggestions they would be GREATLY appreciated! (: Thanks.

i am not sure what level of fitness you are in? but for a beginner i would suggest "Chair Aerobics For Everyone Wheelchair Workout DVD" it is a very good entry level aerobic DVD, you can step it up from there. also please be sure to contact your physician and discuss your intentions with him/her!!!! when your ready to start some type of weight training let me know i will be happy to tailor a program to meet your needs/specific goals. good luck

Hi Kirsten - I lead an exercise class online twice a week. It isn't a DVD, but you get a new workout every Wednesday and Saturday, as well as some motivation to stick with your workout routine. It's $25/month - check it out! I can let you try it before you sign up if you'd like.

i wish there was something similar for the wii
There actually are some good exercise games for the Wii that are para friendly on Wii Fit by using the balance board.
If you do have the Wii balance board, set it (or have someone set something) at an appropriate height so that you will be able to transfer and sit on it. MAKE SURE you either have a spotter or extremely good balance. If needed, set your feet on something to help you balance.
Try playing the balance games in the Wii Fit to engage your core muscles.
I personally play on the Wii Fit Plus, and have found quite a few games between that and Wii Fit that give me a decent work out and strengthen my balance and core. This is something I picked up from the wonderful ladies at ISCSI at Kennedy Krieger.
Everyone is different, and please talk with your physician about using the Wii before doing anything.
