Hello, I am a T6/T7 para with no sensation(besides chronic leg pain that can be best described as the same feeling when you let your arm fall asleep too long and it tenses up and hurts like hell), I am very ambulatory in my chair and get around on my own quite well, even though I dont have much of a choice. I have 2 12" rods and 12 screws in my back after my accident.

Recently I have been having terrible sharp stabbing pains under my shoulders, where I can honestly feel my muscles and tendons rolling over the hardware in my back. I had an xray that showed my hardware as having not moved, yet in the emergency room all they could say is "Go home and see if it gets better on its own." Not very helpful. I honestly feel like it has 100% to do with the fact that I dont have anyone to ever rub my back when it hurts, let alone on a regular basis to remove the daily stress it takes in to get through each day. When I have some one nowadays to rub my back it hurts like mad, and I can feel my muscles and tendons loosening, bumping over my bones and over my hardware, and sliding back into place. I have a theracane, but it seems to loosen my backup, but then since I have to use my arms and shoulders, so I think it makes it even more tense after being a little loose for a bit.

Has anyone else had this kind of stabbing, knife like pain in the shoulders? Any advice on things that will help make it feel better and maybe someday loosen all the way up and go back to normal? Acupuncture? Certain types of massage? Thank you in advance, its getting worse and worse and all i can do is endure it.

Like a lot of us on here, there are pains, bumps, grinds, and other sensations that we and no one else can explain or understand. My shoulders are completely worn out and bone on bone in the joint. Short of narcotic pain meds there is nothing I can do for relief of the constant popping, grinding pain except as you say, endure it. Keep them stretched, free and strong and keep on keeping on........good luck.
