Hi everyone. I had a shot of botox of early last year of March 2010. I was injected with Dysport 500 (ml?) vial only for a hyperextended left leg. It is hyper extended to the point of what they call recurvatum. I am not sure with the term.

The muscle relaxed considerably for 3 to 4 months until it wore of. My doctor advised me to wait for some time to get another shot. The medicine is expensive here in the Philippines. I think I am ready for another injection now. How often do you get botox injections? My neurologist is discouraging me because it can destroy the nerves. I get the approval of my physiatrist for the injections. Any advise will be appreciated.

Thanks to all.

Really? Destroy nerves? Hey I didnt know this.

I'd have it again anytime....its worn off now and dont I know it.

The injections sting and burn (the fluid does anyway - or is the muscles spasming to their lifes content)

I woke up in the night screaming in pain and feeling like I had been poisoned to death, a few days later, I felt great....it started to work straight away after a week or so.

Money, well you can get this anytime....would i be able to afford it - no way. I dont know when i can have it again, but i'm waiting for urgent tests so think this is why i have not heard yet..a massage is great i replacement but dont last long at all sadly :-(

if you dont get it again please do tell me how to cope well, i've not mastered it yet and i think they may ban it in the nhs soon - too expensive...all the best :)

Hi
I've been getting Botox injections every 6 months for the last 4 or 5 years. At first the Botox lasted only 5 months but now it doesn't wear off at all before I get more injections. Botox is a very good thing in my opinion.

hey ebeth, this sure sounds real promising news can you imagine botox working like this? oooooo its so worth going thorough the wear off stage we go thorough. I love the site, so much promising news.

I hope you can afford to keep paying. I cant work :( so it wont be an option for me - nhs cuts means pain managements been hit the hardest first. So i'll just enjoy this relief i get.

I wonder if anyone can tell us what lifes like after having to stop botox. Apparently if ladies stop it for cosmetic reasons their face goes ultra wrinkly - is that because the muscles work even harder? That thought does scare me.The pain of mega spasm
this is unbearable as it is

i am now on baclofen and clorazepam so hope this will aid the botox - are you both on these meds too and does it aid the botox? It hasnt for me yet I hope it will next time

hi pink, i take baclofen, clonazepam and lyrica for my spastic left leg. Another suggestion to lessen the pain is to tire it with exercise and stretching, at least it lasts for a n hour or two before it tightens up again and again

I am going for my third botox injection next week. It lasts for me a little more than 3 months. It is approved by Medicare in the US for 4 times a year so Medicare plus priv insurance pays for me. I think it runs about $500 for treatment in the US and $350 per injection (100 cc) in India. I take it for my arm and three fingers which grow very stiff, vibrate and are extremely irritating. I hate to think of life without it now that I can see the difference. However from my reading, it seems that it does become less effective in the same muscles after use and I remember my dr. trying to use different muscles each time when he injects it into my arm. It has something to do with the body/nerves developing antibodies and then it will not work well in exactly the same place. I'll ask my dr. next week when I see him. When he gives me the injections (and it takes very little of the 100 cc vial) I am hooked up to a machine that somehow pinpoints the muscles that he wants to aim for. Its complicated and I think giving this kind of injection is highly specialized because it is a poison.
