Well for those who havent heard, i have to have my 2 flap surgery's over. i go in thursday for a noon surgery. another month there w/ yummy food....lol, at least its better than nursing home food. i sure dont look forward to these next several months in bed.
One thing i found is impossible post surgery once sent home. if u live in a nursing home & they need a hoyer life to get u up, dont expect to get up 3 times a day for any amy amount of time. Plan on laying in bed for months while u heal, then once your up, expect not to get laid back down till next shift. This is what makes alot of flaps go wrong.

TT..My thoughts and prayers will be with you Thrus. I really hope things go much better this time. Maybe someone could buy you a timer to keep up with when you need turning. Make it really loud so they'll have to turn you just to shut the thing up. Remember the squeaky wheel gets the oil. I'm sure with all your charm you can get the extra attention you're gonna need. Please be careful his time and I hope the days will fly by.

Hey TTexan.. Our thoughts will be with you to carry you through your surgery and the long recovery.. Take your time healing, and don't rush to get up too soon.. As Goose said, make a noise if that's what you have to do to get proper care.. Its not like they're doing you a favour, they get compensated to care for you properly.. ;-)
What's important is not what happens to us, but how we react to what happens to us..
God gave us two ends, one to think with, n one to sit on.. Success depends on which one u use.. Heads u win, tails u lose..

Hahaha, SmileyB. You don't know US nursing homes. The patient is close to powerless, and only noise-making by family has much effect. When the patient makes oise they are told, "I'll be right back."
Not.
Tex, can you balance sitting on your bed?
Look! It's a snail! It's a sloth! Able to creep short distances before lunch!

hi fellow gimps! i'm a c 6/7 quad and have been injured since 1986. i was in a roll over hydroplane accident and it took hours for the paramedics to get me out of the car in the pouring rain. that definately wasn't my day. but alas life goes on!
