Howdy folks,
Later this year Aug/Sep, my partner and I are doing a 21 day cruise to Asia from Fremantle. Wheelie life on the ship should be fine and I don't have any reservations about that aspect of the trip.
What I'd dearly love is info on some of the ports I'll be visiting in relation to access to shopping areas and/or seeing local attractions. I do hope to get ashore for some retail therapy. Yes, shock horror, I'm a bloke who likes to shop ;o)
Unfortunately ports or harbour facilities don't exactly exude a reputation of being a shopping mecca, most city shopping areas tend to be some distance away from harbours?
Trawling the internet doesn't inspire me with much confidence of wheelchair transport except for maybe Singapore. I'm in an electric chariot so that narrows options significantly more.
Listed below are the ports of call. Is there anyone here who can comment if you found any touristy shopping say within 5km walking distance or interesting things to see? Better still, transport to handle electric wheelchair with person still seated in it.
Ports of call:
Ho Chi Minh City (Phu My), Vietnam
Sihanoukville, Cambodia
Bangkok (laem Chabang), Thailand
Kuala Lumpur (Pt. Kelang), Malaysia
Singapore, Singapore
Cheers,
Dennis
