We have just returned from a week's holiday in Nice, south of France. If you love eating out and trying different food then this is definately the place for you. Lobster, frog,s legs, any type of fish you could want are all freely available. The weather was fantastic and there was plenty of opportunity to sit and watch the beautiful people go bye ( and there were plenty of them). Now we come to the downside, and you have probably guessed, yes, it was the toilet situation, we were assured before going that the bathroom was wheelchair friendly etc. who are they kidding, the toilet pan was six whole inches lower than the cushion on my chair, and one handrail fitted to the wall that could only be reached by a person standing, the shower was in the bath, again impossible for me to shower.
Nice is very flat so that's good for the wheelchair BUT none of the paths are dipped when going from the road to pavement, when we spoke to the tourist board they were well aware of the situation but could only apologise.
None of the restaurants we visited had accessible toilets so when I went out for the night I just knew that there was no toilet for me until we got back to the hotel (poor hubby had to lift me off every time I went). We did however come accross a disabled toilet in the market and I was so excited to be able to stay out longer, we don,t ask for much do we?
Apart from all that I loved Nice and would go back but only if I can see pictures of hotels bathroom facilities first.
