hi drunk idiot,

muscle relaxers and pain meds can mask movement. there are some conditions like tettered cord that can cause loss of function as well.

hi fellow gimps! i'm a c 6/7 quad and have been injured since 1986. i was in a roll over hydroplane accident and it took hours for the paramedics to get me out of the car in the pouring rain. that definately wasn't my day. but alas life goes on!

You started the gabapentin about the same time you lost your ability to twitch. Go off it for a day and see if your ability returns. Simple.

and welcome, but we are all idiots here. If you are still drunk, maybe that is why you cannot twitch.

Welcome drunkidiot

Glad you found this site and I hope you'll find the right answers. Did you keep working that muscle every day ? Sometimes the muscle is so weak that if you don't continue to work it ,you lose it. You could try FES [Electrical stimulation] on that muscle to see if there is any activity left in it and to try to strenghten that muscle.

Start off slow and work up. FES helped my wrist flexors.

Gabapentin is used for nerve pain but it could be relaxing the muscle too much. How much and how often are you taking it? I take a very small dose before bed and it just helps me sleep.

Good luck!

Just like any muscles in "normal" people... don't use it you lose it. I've lost mobility and range just by not keeping up with therapy... keep working, have someone do range of motion and exercises and I'm sure you can get it back. :)

Thanks for replies, It was just muscle twitch so I dont need it,which judging by comments is probly why i lost it, I just want to progress not deteriorate which is why I cant wait to get fes bike I take 300mg 3 time a day, is that high or low? I was under the impression that you cannot stop it for 1 day but have to faze it out. I spose I could try not being drunk but i will leave that as a last resort. :D

The FES bike is the best thing! It will do some good for sure. I absolutely love mine.
