I have severe Oesteo in both Knees, because of the BSS one specialist said he would not do any surgery on me because he was worried about the Neurological symptoms. At Rehab when I saw my Rehab Specialist he suggested I get a second oppinion, which I have an appointment to do. I know the right one is bad but because of the lack of pain on that side I can't feel it but know when it's swollen because the skin feels tight. It is also unstable and if I try to pick anything up it gives way. Am I doing the right thing, I am hoping that the surgery will make what is supposed to be my "good leg" more stable and trustworthy I don't trust it at the moment and I can hear it grinding.

Get a second opinion. It sounds like you need a knee replacement. If you have no feeling there, it should be a cake-walk. Otherwise be prepared for some discomfort and a 10" scar. I´ve had two on the same knee. As the origin of your BSS is in your spine, carving the knee shouldn´t change anything neurologically, I wouldn´t have thought. But I´m no expert!!

What kind of surgery are you considering?
If it is knee replacement, keep in mind that the recovery and rehab for this is 2 years of intensive work.

I have bad knees also and walk a little. I decided surgery is silly for me because I do not have the strength to recover. But that is me...
Look! It's a snail! It's a sloth! Able to creep short distances before lunch!
