Hi i've heard many things about chat on here mostly bad so last night i was awake due to a muscle spasm and i braved going into the chat room for the first time. I just want to say thank you all to the kind people in chat - vanessamae, rattcis, lav, timmnus among others who made me so welcome. It passed a very painful hour with a lot of laughter!! Musing on subjects like if the police arrested you what would they handcuffed was so funny i got a stitch!! also sorry about the beer prob but i needed a beer and the fridge was too far away!! I thought it was about time someone said something positive about chat. i had a fantastic time and as i said it passed a very painful time in a lot of laughter. i will def be going back sooner rather than later esslouis

Hi Esslouis! Yep, I stopped in for awhile but had to leave the chat all too soon. It was pretty lively. I'm glad it helped get you through a rough time. Are you feeling better today?

Hi esslouis, thanks for posting, i had heard so much bad about negative chat i steered well clear.

I'm glad to hear positive news for to be honest.

I still wont be going into chat...not because i dont want to talk with you lovely peeps...i am a one-to-one type old fashioned letter writer plus

1. I would have to divorce the 'out here world' completley, what with pms and forum reading and posts too
2 Me 4 fingers would get just too jelous of middle finger that is big and muscle bound with all the typing it does.
3. if i was to meet a devo/person who picked on one more vulnerable than meself i would not have the ability to
just wheel on by and let that happen, me mouth faster than any button to report to a moderator..and me language
would unfortunatley be that blue, it would blind our more better mannered peeps.

right...i AM on mind holiday...Esslouis i'm glad you perking up, you sound so cheery on posts, excellent

As I also posted on the other thread, I would like to add a few words here as well.

Apart from the occasional problems, I spent many very interesting, thoughtful and mainly funny hours in chat here. I met some very nice people - absolutely worth every minute I spent talking with them! :) Chat can be a chance to get to know people a little better, it can also be a good way to pass the time.

I would definitely like to encourage those members who wish to try chat.

A very friendly hello to those of you who I made friends with in chat. :D

As a regular user of the chatroom I have to ask, where is the source of this negativity?

How does it feel to feel?

I have never had any problems using chat...sometimes it gets crowded and can be difficult to keep up. Other than the thread that Simon closed I have not heard anything 'bad' about chat.

It's a shame if some have have been put off. I would say to those ones, give it a go...and don't listen to negative comments. Find out for yourselves.

See you in chat :)

hi dancin johnny

i got ths information off members, even the more 'long established'.

They said that a lot of the time, topics are carried on and get insultive.

Also some newer members whom get attacked for not beng real 'sci' because they walk, the usual few whom bang on and have a 'get off of my train' scary bloke from the film ghost line.

That and being called extremely insulting names, devos perving....thats enough negative press i feel.

I'll stick to me decision, I got bitten enough on here in the past, to risk having it done on chat as well I dont have the mental energy to keep being on alert 'just in case'. I guess to that chat on here on pm..safe by simon so we dont get abusive mails.

..just remember any negative comment you get, ignore them. Its easy to just sswitch off a machine and forget..and maybe go on line when you know the trusted regulars ((there are loads i'm told) are on. that way,you got some back up :emoticon-0165-muscle: not everyone has to ability to stick up for themself and thats ok, nothing to be upset over, infact i think this is some trait to be proud off.

:)

If anyone feels they have been subjected to unprovoked abuse in the chat room, they can contact me and I'll look into it.

Apart from the recent misunderstandings in chat, as far as I'm aware, there have not been any recent issues, and no reports have been submitted.

Both the chat room and PM's are secure areas. Only members can access these facilities, and both are as secure as each other.

Simon.
