I've been in my chair for seven months with no sign of skin sores until just recently. I will see the Doc tomorrow, but my question is how often and for how long do you do pressure releases?
I am a c6/7 quad and do reclines in my power chair.

alaska one,
i am also a c6-7. i'm able to use a manual chair. i shift every half hour. i usually just do a push up for a minute of lean forward or to the side. knock on wood i've never had a pressure sore and when i do get red i spend time in bed until it blanches. a little prevention goes a long way.

hi fellow gimps! i'm a c 6/7 quad and have been injured since 1986. i was in a roll over hydroplane accident and it took hours for the paramedics to get me out of the car in the pouring rain. that definately wasn't my day. but alas life goes on!

I shift from side to side....a LOT! I do lifts for about 1-5min every hour or so. Make sure that the skin stays dry & that your clothes & cushion allow air to circulate to the skin. Also I lay down on my side at night & for naps which helps even things out a bit more. Good luck with preventing sores.

Fortunately, I have sensation and can feel when I need to shift. Sometimes it may be 30 to 45 minutes but other times every 5 to 10 minutes. Often, I have to shift 2 or 3 times quickly for relief.
All the best.
All the best.
