I learned how to Cath 2 months ago and it is fun! My boo said if I wanted to spend the night, I would have to learn (that way his mom or anyone else would not have to come in during the middle of the night and do it). I know it is probably sick and twisted that I think sticking a tube up a penis is fun, but it is one of the easiest things I have ever done!

LOL ! My son's friend does not have SCI but has to cath because of kidney stones and he says it makes him feel bionic! Says pissing is for sissies...ha ha ha. Recently some girlfriends complained that they had to pee so frequently and I asked them if they wanted a catheter. When I was in rehab I was cathing on the 2nd day and the nurses were astounded. I said "took me 30 years to find my clit and now this...." They gasped. Nurses have no sense of humor! Cathing is the least of all problems associated with SCI.

Hello Tyra,

I kept resisting when my urologist wanted me to start cathing. I wish I had started many years ago as it has greatly increased my quality of life.

Good luck.

Lol the nurses taught my husband how to cath me in the hospital. When they left he looked at me and said Wow that answered sooo many questions! Lol poor thing would kill me if he knew I posted this. Later I had to get him to teach me to cath because the nurses at the rehab I was at didnt want to have anything to do with my personal care. They thought that sense my husband was there 24/7 he should do it all or I should do it. Girr glad Im not there anymore. Oh and Welcome!
