For the last couple days when I do digital stimulation there is fecal matter right there ready to come out but it doesn't. Its kinda big and won't come out. Any suggestions on what to do about this?
One must have a strong will to make it.

I squirt KY jelling up and sit on the loo giving it about 10 or even 15 minutes to allow the anus to open slowly and for the faeces to drop.

Stay on the toilet until it comes out. Don't take no for an answer. It may take some time. I use KY water soluble lubricant (or similar store brands). While my nurse instructor in phsical therapy class advised against it, I also use vasoline (supposedly not good since it isn't water soluble you can more easily get an infection). And, in addition, I use Preparation H ointment. I use the KY until nothing is happening and then I use one of the other lubricants and then back to KY. Sometimes alternating them helps the bowel movement move. Try to lubricate all around the blockage and break up the blockage with your finger.

My "Guide to Self Care" that they sent me home with, says to do digital stimulation, wait 15 minutes, do it again, wait 15 minutes and so forth for an hour. I don't wait 15 minutes. I do it continually until my rectum is empty.

If all else fails, you might try Dulcolax suppositories.

When the normal routine doesn't work I add in a Glycerine suppository.....several companies make them but I use the ones from "fleet".

Fleet and senokot s are my friends. This is really hard to share....lol Oh well. Try a stool softener before a laxative. Also fiber helps I use metamucil, it seems to work better than benefiber. I take the capsules. Another issue might be fluid intake. You need adequate fluids.

Good luck??

Hi,

Things that help me are; eating sweetcorn with swede and sweet potatoe mash and other veggies. insoluble fibre is key; porridge. Before my accident I used cascara compound. I havent yet tried it post sci but will when i can find my pills. things that make worse are; cakes, biscuits, general treat food :(

good luck!

p.s are you sure it is faeces? it could be your bowel? dont get tempted to poke up there.

soap on warm hands..me nurse friends told me this.

Oh and roll p ya sleeves, it gets everywhere :toilet:

theres many a time i go and really thought i'd have to get an ambulance out. Horrid isnt it. I think they ought to show us techniques in hospital, nothing like poop stuck and an AD attack and spazzey to make it worse :(

It's your finger "digitial" = your digit You insert it and gently stimulate the inside of your rectum for 20 to 45 seconds, it stimulates your bowel to move, repeat e very 5 mines for about 20 minutes. If you have still no luck then you need other methods to help.
