The past few jobs I've applied to (since I had to leave my last job due to my illness and subsequent lack of mobility which was necessary for it) have all fallen through. I'm not going to sit here and say it's because I'm in a wheelchair but of course the thought has crossed my mind. I feel like the interviews go really well, and there's not really anything being in a chair would impede. But then a few days later, sure enough I get the call or e-mail saying "Despite being highly qualified we regret to inform you..." I know have to just keep pressing on and something will come through. Obviously the economy isn't great either so that's only compounding everything. It's just hard because my main source of income is seasonal and all the time I spent in the hospital and having to move back home and leave my job that I had budgeted for has affected my finances. I'm lucky my family has been very supportive but I feel like I want to be back to being as self supportive as I was before I got sick.

Hi

Remember some jobs already have in mind whom they want to employ,,they just advertise for 'the need to'.

Sometimes its 'if your face fits'.

If they really are disabled-ist, well you miss nothing as i woldnt want to be around a bunch of people whom are ignorant.

Its the recession, they can be realllly picky, maybe someone way over qualified are a better pick for them.

I've never got a call to say I didnt get a job, nothing personal. Keep on searching, to let one intervie dishearten you, is good for no one, your've been rejected now, so will loads of others whom applied for the job.

Good on ya for job hunting, i can only function on a stress free retired type life, great to hear its not this way for all sci.

I got plenty of rejection letters even before SCI. It's hard to say if your condition is holding you back from being hired or not. The economy isn't the best and I think there's a higher than normal demand for jobs. Keep at it. Use Monster, HotJobs and local job sites to investigate options. Review your resume and make sure it's spankin' perfect. Some of the job sites offer help on interview skills, resume writing. Use these aids to better your chances. Even if you feel that you have interviewing in the bag, still brush up your skills as much as possible. Good luck!
