Im feeling pretty grossed out about this, but Ive noticed that my bowels seem to be leaking a bit. Ive never had any problems before in either 'going' or 'not going'. Anyway I suppose this has been happening for the last few months now, and Ive been hoping it would go away. We are not talking major leakage here, but enough to make me change my underwear. So what should I do, what questions should I be asking for instance. Who should I tell, can I get away with not telling my doctor. to be honest as we know there isnt much dignity left in life, but I feel at the moment I really cant tell my doctor. I know I should but maybe I could not for a while?

Go on someone please say something nice, cos I feel this is 1 mile too many right now.

Cheers
L

Hi are you taking any stool softners you may need to stop them for a while and then you may want to try eating more stuff that makes your stool hard, cheese that kind of stuff otherwise see the doc you may have a gastro problem easily resolved with antibiotics

Try eating eggs. That always helps me.

It's not nice but is a problem us paras have to contend with :yikes:

Maybe you could get in touch with the hospital you visit for other disability related problems. They should have a Continence Advisor or somone like that. You don't need to be embarrased cos it's something they deal with everyday, although I agree that it isn't pleasant for us to have discuss issues like that!

Good luck!

I don't have any advice for you but i'll stand in solidarity with you seeing as how I am having trouble with my bodily functions....although I have heard that suppositories can cause leakage

Another thing to look at would be any changes to medication, especially pain Rx. When titrating from the methadone, it took awhile for my body to adjust.

Hi Luce
Sorry I don't have a solution but I do understand where your coming from...I have a "problem" which I know I should see my GP about but at this moment in time with whats going on in my life I just can't be doing with it...I will see the doctor , but just not yet...!
If it doesnt clear up then you should get advice , but in your own time.

hiya lucy
sorry to hear of the probs,i had similar at the beginning but luckily was in hospital and it sorted itself out by the time i was home
i dunno what may cause it but once i drank a little red wine and for days i was having leakages,so it must be something to do with diet
i know its embarrasing to see the doc but maybe it would be for the best cos it maybe compacted down there and the leakage could be going round the faeces?
still let us know take care
