I realize this isn't exactly Epic News to anyone that hasn't mentally yelled at their bladder, but I had to share! And my husband is asleep and usually grossed out by these sorts of things.

So there I sat. I drowned myself with 2 bottles of water and gave it about 20 minutes. I had to go SOOO bad! I closed my eyes and meditated, but darn it, when you have to go, but you can't excuse yourself to the rest room, I have an accident. When I'm ready to go and on the throne, my bladder gets scared.

But that didn't happen tonight! and for the first time in 13 years I actually peed on my own! I told myself to pretend I was in an uncomfortable crowded place and there's no wait out, which usually results in problems. Then when I felt the urge, I somehow managed to restrain the scared muscles from spazzing and cutting me off. And I'll be darned! I cathed about 10 seconds later with 2 drops!

OK, enough celebrating over urine. I just couldn't keep it to myself and everyone else is asleep. Pat myself on the tush, I'm off to bed.

=D

I'm really happy for you.
I aspire to pee again and have off and on. I was using a Vibrogym for a while and was able to pee some but not empty completely. Then I stopped using the Vibrogym and stopped peeing.
From my urologist: If your residual is less then 30mls then cath once a day to reduce the risk of UTI's. But if you can consistently darn to within a few drops then say goodbye to cathing.

Good luck,
J

(As an AB, who knew one could be so happy about peeing.. Lol..)

Major achievement well done. Now to practice so you get a routine going your body recognizes and maybe you can say goodbye to those pesky accidnts too, that would be a great feeling!

From your profile, it seems that you can stand. You might try standing up while attempting to pee (yes I know you're a female) - you would need a hand-held urinal designed for a woman or stand over the toilet.

During my recovery years, I noticed that, if I already had to pee, I couldn't possibly hold it if I were walking with my walker. So now, standing is part of my routine when I have to pee.

Congratulations on peeing. I guess I would rather pee than not. But peeing has its downside. I pee about every two hours. That means when I am out, I have to look for a bathroom in 1.5 hours (can't wait right to the estimated end). And, of course, sleep is interrupted as well.

Just remember how long it takes a child to be successful. Don't give in, keep trying, and if you feel everything start to clench just think of Greybeard in a pink tutu and E. Colin dancing to ABBA... It might not help but it'll concern anyone stood on the other side of the door when you burst out laughing :)

Mmmm. I have never shirked from the opportunity to get a lady's girly bits working at their best, so if it helps - feel free! :D

As for standing, if you wobble as much as I do, be prepared for it to go anywhere except in the bowl. Nightmare - unless you have three hands, of course. Sitting takes a hell of a lot longer, but far less messy. Worth a try though. Good luck.

I agree with standing. I found that while sitting just as I felt like I was about to go my toes would spasm and that would be then end of it. Standing controlled the spasms.

But I really recommend the Vibrogym or any full body vibration machine as it will exercise your pelvic floor muscles..
