E-Motion Wheelchair Wheels - Power Assisted - Any Good?

Hi all
I would like to find out if anyone has e-motion wheels on their wheelchair and if it has made a difference. They are very expensive so I would like to find out the pro's and cons before recommending them to my clients, who are tetraplegics. As I am in South Africa, I think we would have to import them, but if anyone knows of suppliers here in SA that would be great.
Thanks
T

Hi - I'm a para but had a brachial neuritis as an added bonus on top of my SCI. Fortunately the neuritis resolved, but for a couple of years I used e-motions. In summary they are very good but they do add some width to the chair, which was at times an issue (although in fairness this was the older model). The wheels themselves are very heavy, so they do pose a problem getting them in and out of cars etc.

Hi
I am a C7/8 tetra and have a pair of e-motions. I love them! They have really improved my life as I don't have to be pushed most of the time. I only use them when I go out anywhere with slightly difficult terrain (town, college etc)as I can push easily on flat surfaces and they are pretty heavy to push when they aren't switched on. The down sides are of course the weight...some of my friends aren't strong enough to lift the chair with both the wheels on, and I cant lift either wheel. The added width can also sometimes be a problem but iyt depends on the original width of the chair...
hope that helps!
