I have been having this ongoing issue for the longest time but I haven't been able to resolve it. I just had a bladder infection the first couple weeks of July and it was constantly leaking so I went to the clinic and I get some antibiotics which was cipro while I was on the antibiotics it stopped leaking during those 10 days
I went to a follow-up Thursday on the 21st and ever since I have been back in bed I have been feeling the same symptoms all over again starting with Goosebumps and it has been leaking constantly
Does anyone else suffer the same thing
I am a quadriplegic with a regular Foley catheter I have not been able to get anything else because I have no insurance and it's very expensive
I do use a condom catheter occasionally but eventually I have to switch back because the muscles in my bladder contract or tighten up to the point where it doesn't and beyond its on
Although it has been a while I have been drinking lots of water is it possible for the infection to be back in 10 days?

Usually this stage passes I use over the counter medication for gases as well as a pillow that is constantly being repositioned underneath my behind to relieve pressure and also to make it so their space for gases to escape

Please excuse my message if it does I have a correct grammar and punctuation as well as sentences being scattered

I would suspect an infection. Sometimes you just don't get it on the first round of antibiotics. Good luck.

Likely infection. We hear this complaint constantly.

A couple of things to consider here, especially since you mention gas. You just finished a cipro regimen which wiped out you normal gut flora. Have you tried taking a probiotic to replenish it. Do you know what the exact organism was and what it is sensitive and resistant to. Cipro has been a good UTI treatment until recently when e. coli started gaining resistance to it. You may try culturing another sample before going the cipro route again to make sure it is not resistant. I just had a similar experience and had to have in hospital IV antibiotics which really put me down a well.

One of them was e coli there was another one but I didn't get the name and after I was finished with the antibiotics I went back for a follow-up this last Thursday so they took another sample now just waiting to see if they call me back which I'm sure they will especially if it's resistant and the reason why I have a feeling they will call me back is because the foul smell to my urine has returned and that's one of my personal indicators that there's an infection in my urinary track

Does anyone have any experience and would it be less likely to return if I'm using an external condom catheter, I know that the one infection that was mentioned starts to reproduce with high acid content so staying on top of drinking lots of water but then again it's inevitable

I've often had the recurring infections,,, till I INSISTED the Dr ask for more comprehensive testing of my samples. Since then,, I have gotten meds other than Cipro on a couple of occasions,,,, with good results. Some labs test for the obvious and ignore anything else,,, ecoli isn't the only bug on the street.

The leaking part when infected is mostly due to the debris partially blocking the catheter (foley). I've had success irrigating my bladder with sterile water. It clears the gunk out of the tube and dilutes the urine a little,, getting the flow going again/ I'm using a foley all the time now,,, mostly because I'm lazy,, and have had fewer infections than when straight cathing or using condom caths. But that's me,,,, everyone else here tells me that is unusual.
