Hi guys, am looking into a proper off road chair for clay pigeon shooting. I've looked at the Trekinetic but not tried it yet. I currently use an RGK with a Freewheel which is quite good but gets tricky uphill and over bad tree roots. In shooting you sometimes need to be able to get into a shooting cage so the buggy-type off roaders won't work.

One thought I had was to keep the RGK/Freewheel set-up but add powered wheels. Has anyone done that?

Help please?

Ralph

I have a Trekinetic and go to horse trials etc in it and it copes very well with everything I ask of it. If you want to try one they will usually bring one to your home to try, or did for me, and I was able to take it on a footpath at home and really try it out. For me the chunky tyres are really helpful especially on wet grass when most other thigs just spin !

There is a second hand Trelkinetic ( hardly used) in the new edition of "Forward" the spinal injuries association magazine, I think you can access it via their website if you are not a member.

Good luck I hope you find what you need.

The problem with those that power the front wheel is the same you have with any hand pedaled cycle. going uphill,, you lose traction because you don't have enough weight over the driven wheels. Using the emotions or something like them, would solve that, I think.

The lever drive looks good. Emotions are expensive and heavy; difficult to load into the car on your own. You also won't fit them to an RGK easily.
I have a chair set up for off-road work; Kuschall K4 with a slightly lower seat height; mountain bike wheels laced to wheelchair hubs with Maxxis hookworm tyres for the beach (with 22" pushrims); standard wheels with primo v-track knobblys for gravel / dirt / grass. Also use 5" casters and add the freewheel if necessary.

Just to clear things up, my BOMA chair doesnt do this. Its ok round the woods (as long as it doesnt get thorns in it) and its great over landrover style tracks. Mine doesnt do wet and damp well and only did 5.5 miles on a rough track out of a set of new fully charged batteries.
