I finally got fitted for a new chair today! I'm not sure what brand it is to be honest but I'm under the impression it'll be a Tilite. The guy was great, and really helpful. It'll fit me (I'm 6' 3" and under 130 lbs so that makes things funky). It's going to be lightweight, titanium, foldable for car transports, have those ramp aids (my school has loads of ramp), more lumbar support and bike style tires so I can get around the city more easily. I'm also getting it in "toxic green" which makes me happy. I've been stuck in an ill fitting transport Invcare that's causing more pain than its helping. A big lugger 30 lbs that has had me fall off 3 curbs, had the foot plates fall off while I try to transfer and has fallen back down ramps while I try to go up. I leave school in tears at the end of the day because of it.

The downside is it could take 2-3 months just for the insurance company to process everything! ARGH! My classes start on Monday and I was hoping for something as soon as possible. Luckily my insurance Tricare is apparently quite good and usually pays 100%. The agent was great too and said he'd do anything he could to help find me a loaner chair that's better than what I have sometime next week for class.

I'm just mad I didn't get a new chair sooner. Oh well. I'm just so so so thrilled to get a better chair and none of my AB friends understand why I'm so happy so I had to share.

I got a new chair this past spring and what a difference it's made!

I hope you get your new chair as soon as possible, it's like getting a new body (well, not totally, but hopefully you get what I mean.) Life is so much easier with a chair that's custom made for you.

I'm excited for you. I had noticed that old chair you were in and really felt bad for you. This is really great news. Stay in behind them...my order for my new chair was lost twice. Hope you get it soon!!!!

Kaydub,

Now I am suspicious of your salesman. YOU DO NOT NEED A FOLDABLE TILITE FOR TRANSPORT. One with a rigid seat is more comfortable in my opinion because there is no sag to turn your knees in. Better for posture. It is easy to dissemble and load in the car. Check youtube for videos of how. Do before it is ordered and you may be very glad. you will have this chair a long time.

Good luck. You are going great!

I hope it comes quickly and fits you perfectly. I really hope he comes up with a better loaner chair for you.

Noted! Thanks for the heads up. To be honest it might not be a tilite chair, for some reason I thought it would be from browsing the websites originally. I'll definitely get ahold of my rep ASAP just to double check. He seemed very knowledgeable and candid with any other questions and requests I had, from shocks to tire types, so I'm really hoping I just said it wrong. But I'll definitely check.

And thanks everyone else! I did a 5 K walk for AIDS today. My entire team ran so I wheeled with the walkers. I met a few new friends who helped with some of the hills in my clunker, it just made me that much more ready for a new chair!

I think WE all get why you're so excited! :specool: I remember my last chair...every time I heard a truck go by I was geared up to have my new ride. :H2kOther (26):
