Severe Spaz Attacks On Sitting - Help Please

When i sit upright me back paz's so much i feel sick, the pain i actually do pass out from. The back/leg go into temporay paralysis.
i aint gonna spend me whole life lying down...i still got to get out and about. The pain, the tiredness..i cope with til i pass out.
After an adventerous trip to watch champion fireworks...the ride home, and going to bed....i cant even remember that part......i awoke a few times in the night to get some cereal to eat..i sat down...dropped the bowel 3 times. as i sat and ate it.
Next day - i thought i was having a heart attack...the crushing of me chest and pain in me jaw (jaw - un-related that was just weird).......i knew that pain...severe t-spine spaz..all i could do is lay there sobbing silently as me back was literally dug into by fingers..then elbows to de-crunch the muscles which feel inbetwen the rib spaces..lucky me loved ones aint shocked by this.
Question:
Soooooooooooo......do we cause damage to ourself by pushing sitting up too much? I think to meself its been happening so far and i aint dead.....i cant tolerate further baclofen.....it keeps me wide awake..then i need clorazepam at night and i go to sleep..and i hate it...i'm even thinking valium if that does not send people to sleep.

I don't know. My husband's back hurts and his right side burns very badly when he's been sitting upright for too long. But I was assuming (hoping) it was because his injury was less than 2 years ago and he had lots of healing to do........
I'm sorry you are feeling so poorly these days.

yeap me too..i hoped that in time..it would lessen...i've been like this since the day i was admitted for surgery....the only difference between then and now i i lost use of me right side....no mattr what me results are..nothing can help in the anatomy...so its grit teeth..next stage time.
I wondered if the back kind of just got used to this? Like if i try really really hard to grit thorough the spaz, it would get stronger...theres so many who sit up in chairs...for hours...i wondered if they just grin and bear it........do i just need to try to strap meself into something to stop the temporary paralysis and agony from forcing me to lay down?

Here's your rose. Hope it comes out well on the screen.
I just don't know enough to give you a decent answer. I wish I did. Thanks for letting me (and everyone on the forum) share your journey.

Have you tried zanaflex? I didn't like it as its pretty strong. Aslo the side effects promised hallucinations but didn't deliver. But it could be right for you..
I know that's not the answer to your question, all I can say in that regard is - I hope not..

i remember ya telling me about Baclofen and lost the flipping thread lol, i asked about other meds....answer is no for me, I dont know why..just 'Baclofen is the best one' is the reply.
I come to a new conclusion, spasms are here to stay, i just gotta get used to dealing with them..they are me dominator that rules....like everything, i'm just adjusting me mind to the pain levels..and rebel against the spasm as much as i can...not too much though as a recent trip out for a few hours shopping has made yet another toe go all bent up...never mind.
It may have happened if i was 100 per cent bedbound too..nothing escapes us one way or another

Sorry i can't help with the back spasm except to say i'm here if you need to scream, vent etc. i've done that plenty with you so come on back and see if it helps. i'm also on baclofen and for me its the wonder drug - its not stopped the spasms but it has helped 100% with the spasm at night and lets me sleep. i've also tried the massage route and found it helped and i've also tried reflexology which even though i thought it might not help found it has!! i have a session every 2 weeks due to money issues but i found it great.

I'll have to agree with EssLouis about the Baclofen. It was prescribed to my by a urologist to help with my bladder sphincter muscle. It didn't help my bladder but stopped all my spasticity in my legs, abdomen and hands. I had been 25 years struggling with spasms and this was a gift from Heaven. I have been using it for the last 15 years and still works great.
Good luck and I hope you can work through your pain.
