One of mine is going to get my hair cut when it's been raining.

You roll into the hairdressers with wet tyres, and all the hair on the floor sticks to your tyres and hands.

Ewww! :dev:

The most annoying fact is, that when somone pisses me off, i cant go and ''express'' myself :dev:
Then many other smaller things, like how to explain cetain things like spasms and so.
Cant drink very much of 40's, possibly i might not get there where id wish to reach at night
When getting stoned at my electric chair, no-one knows what to do :)

There are so many small but important things...

I don't like the fact that I can't go to the beach with my son alone, as there is no dignified way to get from point A (the sand) to point B (the water). Even with my husband there to carry me into the water....well, I'm in a bathing suit, so all parts may not be covered under warranty by the time I actually hit the water. Scares small children and animals :dev:

Another pet peeve is heavy, heavy doors. It's like wrestling a bear, and it hurts to navigate through them. Why do some stores install doors that seem like they'd be more suited to Fort Knox?

What annoys me the most is not being able to go to my friends houses with out making a big deal out of getting in and out of the house. (Most houses have steps) and because of this I vary rarely get invited to any ones house. And I really miss that and that’s what I think is one of the worst things of being paralyzed

kevin dont care at all he still gets SOOOO drunk, and calls me up in the MIDDLE of the night and i have to come get him and rest of the boys ... and i have to push him cause one time i said 'you can push yourself, your a big boy' and well what can i say he ended up on the floor. :P haha! but what can i say, just like kevin says, 'a beer in each hand, and drunk off your ass is a way to vent and let all out and nobody remembers what you said so its all good, therefore beer is great!' so its all good, everyone needs a drink sometime!

The only thing which really annoys me about being paralysed is the time it takes to do "bowels". I'd love to be able to do a 2 minute trip to the loo as opposed to the 2 hours it takes me!

Drink  I can do with no problems!

What is annoying me at the moment is trying to track down the ******** who stole my son's push w/chair from the hospital. I can only say thank God that it was not his power chair as he would have been totally devasted over that. I am the one , along with the staff, that has to look everywhere as obviously he cannot go everywhere in the hospital, like up stairs and down.

Imagine stealing somebody's wheelchair! What has happened to humanity. It felt like his arms and legs being taken all over again.

Hi all,

w/chair still missing, presumed stolen at this stage. How low can you get. Have been to cops to report it, they say nothing can be done by them until hospital ask them to investigate. God knows where it is now - maybe being used by somebody trying to claim BENEFIT!!!! I wish them luck!!! Mind you anything is possible - somebody stole an ambulance at the weekend and went on a joyride with it causing thousands of euro in damage while the crew were working on a sick lady in her home- that is what humanity has been reduced to - they don't give a ****.

A list of things I can't do:
Dancing, Holding hands with my wife while walking, catching the kid when he bolts accross lawn/sand, going to the beach. and lots more but I don't want to sound to bitter.

Oh and I enjoy getting hammered in the chair, I become the life of the party.

OK... I'm probably going to get hammered for this one, but it happened just the other day... Keep in mind I'm in Tennessee...lol

My pet peeve:

Fat freaking rednecks who get a handicapped sticker because their obese and parking more than two spots away from the door at McDonalds requires too much exercise and just puts that much more distance between themselves and the next supersized order of french fries!

Well there are a few of things.

1. Having to have someone cut up my food for me whenever I am at the dinner table or in a restaurant. Because of this i usually choose a soft meal like mashed potato and scampi, rice salad or soup. I find it humiliating.

2. Not being able to relieve sexual frustration/tension like in the good old days. (I am a man).

3. Cold, floppy hands in winter.

4. Not being able to climb trees.

5. Not being able to take part in competitive, physically demanding sports that I used to love, like squash and football.

:)

There are loads of things that :) me, which I won't bother to list, cause I reckon most people in our situation already have the same list. But one of my pet hates is trying to explain, in words, how I would like something done, like my hair!! :D

Still, I get there in the end. :(

I have loads but will only mention a few:

being able to just touch something out of reach and not actually pick it uo (or get it down),

drunk people always come to 'talk' to me - I am a magnet for them (men mostly but women too),

some people expect me to be able to do the things that super-sporty-active wheelchairs users can do like pull yourself and chair up flights of stairs, marathons, and always having folk saying 'why don't you try.....'

BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO

looking like a sack tied round the middle no matter what I wear and not being able to have nice footwear,

having to watch how much I drink because of lack of loos,

toilets in general,

wet rooms - pet hate of mine and they are everywhere,

swimming pools that say they have disabled access but have no way of getting you in and out of the pool,

people you meet who say 'oh you must come round sometime for dinner' and the actual invite never comes,

no room to move about in antique shops or craft shops, ( I can't remember the last time I was in an antique shop),

when peole say 'oh you have done this before' when you do a chair to car transfer or ask me if I have passed my wheelchair test,

the 'Santa Claus' who would not let me put money into his charity box for the childrens' hospital!!!

people patting my head

people giving me a shove without letting me know they are about to do it - trapped thumbs down side of chair and brakes

I have many more but I am just a grumpy old woman.
