Hi Everyone

I would be interested in learning more about compelte quadriplegia or anyone who is a complete quadriplegic. I am keen in understanding that if anyone who is a complete quadriplegia, did you get any sensation/movement back and how long after the injury date? and what level of injury are you?

I'm appreciate that no spinal cord injury is the same and one can only go on what sensation/movement they regain back however, I'd love to hear from anyone who are willing to share their journey on complete quadriplegia.

Many thanks.

I am a c6/7 complete, 7 months post accident, and don't have any sensation below my level of injury so I think the Doc's call was accurate as far as my complete diagnosis goes, but many posts on this site feel they have been misdiagnosed. My theory is don't give up hope, but deal with what has been dealt to you. Good luck to you and your husband. Hold Fast.

My son is diagnosed complete c5 he is only a little over a month into his injury. We are not sure if he had this capablity or not after the accident but he is able to flex and contract his stomach, he can not feel it but we can definitely see it. Hope this helps

Hi Muskie if he is able to do this "on command" then that is positive but have the doctors explained to you about muscle spazms? In high injuries like his muscles can move involuntarily and this is not always a sign of recovery.

Give him our good wishes and keep asking questions of us and more importantly his doctors.

On command, the spasms yes kinda of sort of, my take is that they are scrambled messeages from the brain to the muscles, and thanks for the well wishes

On command is encouraging and MAY indicate he has some connections still intact.

I'm a C-7 bUt started out as a C-5/6 complete. I regained more movement within the first 8 weeks of my injury through therapy. After that I didn't regain anymore. However, you can gain more movement and sensory up to 2 years post. The fact that the movement is able to be done on command is good. I would encourage him to continue to do it. Best of luck and keep us updated to his status. Hopefully soon we will hear from both of you!

I'm a C 4/5 and it took me about 3 months before my right arm began working. I have decent use of it now (no wrist or hand). My left arm came around 7-8 months later, but it's not as good as my right.

I am C4 complete, injured 27 years ago. I had very little to no return of sensation/movement post injury. I cannot move either arm or feel it, no feeling/movement below my upper chest.
